• Giancarlo Stanton sitting Tuesday against Mariners
Giancarlo Stanton is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Mariners.

Advice: Stanton will get a night off against the Mariners with Bryan Woo on the bump for Seattle. Aaron Judge will be the designated hitter with Trent Grisham getting a start in center field. Rotoworld Tuesday, 12:12 pm

  • Cardinals designate Rivas for assignment
Cardinals designated 1B Alfonso Rivas III for assignment.

Advice: Rivas, who was claimed off waivers from the Angels in January, is now off the 40-man roster. He’d spent the entire season with Triple-A Memphis, hitting .246/.364/.323 with no homers in 156 plate appearances. Rotoworld Monday, 1:14 pm
  • Exits 40-man roster
Rivas was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Monday.

Advice: The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Ryan Loutos. Rivas, 27, has slashed just .246/.364/.323 with zero home runs this season at Memphis. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:15 pm
  • Continues power surge Sunday
Judge went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-2 win against the White Sox.

Advice: Judge capped the scoring in the contest with one of the shortest homers of his career -- a 339-foot poke to the short porch in right field. Regardless of the distance, it was another addition to his recent collection of his homers, as he's now gone deep seven times over his past 13 games. The impressive run has elevated Judge into a tie for third place in the majors with 13 home runs on the campaign. Rotowire.com Monday, 12:01 pm

  • Swats fifth homer
Trevino went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the White Sox in Saturday's 6-1 victory.

Advice: Trevino hit one of four homers for New York in the contest, belting a solo shot to left field in the second inning. The backstop is up to five long balls through 91 plate appearances this season, already surpassing the four homers he hit in 158 plate appearances last year. Trevino and Austin Wells continue to split work behind the plate for the Yankees, but Trevino has been far superior offensively so far this season, slashing .286/.330/.464 to Wells' .197/.308/.303 mark. • Slugs another long ball Saturday
Stanton went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, a walk and two total RBI in Saturday's 6-1 win against the White Sox.

Advice: Stanton doubled home a run in the first inning and added a solo homer in the third. The long ball was his second in as many days and his third over his past four games. Stanton is enjoying a big month of May, slashing .308/.333/.654 with five homers and 10 RBI through 13 games, though he's also struck out 35.2 percent of the time. Rotowire.com Sunday, 7:56 am

  • Mixed bag in no-decision
Castillo did not factor into the decision Saturday in Baltimore, permitting two runs on four hits and four walks over six innings. He struck out two.

Advice: The four walks were a season high and the two strikeouts were by far a season low for Castillo. He still managed a seventh straight quality start, keeping his team in it before the Mariners' offense rallied late. It marks the first no-decision of the season for Castillo, who is just 4-5 despite a 3.28 ERA, including a 2.01 mark across his last seven outings. Rotowire.com Saturday, 6:55 pm

  • Luis Castillo posts quality start in no-decision
Luis Castillo posted a quality start in a no-decision against the Orioles on Saturday, allowing just two runs on four hits across his six innings of work.

Advice: The right-hander also issued four free passes on the day while recording only two strikeouts. The damage done against him came early in this one, as Austin Hays swatted a sacrifice fly in the second inning and Ryan O’Hearn added a run-scoring single in the third. Castillo generated only five swings and misses on 89 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of 21 percent. He’ll attempt to get back in the win column as he carries a 3.28 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 66/15 K/BB ratio (60 1/3 innings) into Thursday’s matchup against the Yankees in New York. • Fans career-high 14 in win
Gil (5-1) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over six innings in a 6-1 victory over the White Sox. He struck out 14.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander set a new career high in Ks -- in fact, Gil had never struck out more than nine batters in a big-league start before. He generated an incredible 22 swinging strikes among his 98 pitches, and 40 combined called/swinging strikes, as he produced his fourth straight quality start and won his fifth straight decision. Gil is having a breakout campaign, and he'll take a 2.39 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 62:27 K:BB through 49 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Mariners.
