      Advice: Lowe, who is hitless over his last 13 at-bats, was the late-game hero for the Rangers. He set up extra innings with an run-producing, eighth-inning sacrifice fly, then Lowe was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 13th for the walk-off win.       Nathaniel Lowe drove in two runs including a walk-off hit-by-pitch in the 13th inning against the Angels on Saturday.

      Advice: The Angels decided to load the bases with an intentional walk to Corey Seager. It didn’t work out, as Carson Fulmer plunked Lowe to give the Rangers the win.     • Report: Mets offered Pete Alonso $158M extension
      The New York Post’s Joel Sherman reports the Mets offered first baseman Pete Alonso a seven-year, $158 million contract extension last summer.

      Advice: Sherman adds that “the sides never got close to a deal.” The 29-year-old impending free agent could still wind up back in New York, but at this point it sounds like he’s going to test the free agent waters to see what other offers might be out there.       Diaz went 1-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Athletics.

      Advice: Diaz has hit well for average this season, but he has struggled to find much power as he has just a .119 ISO. He's started to show more pop of late, tallying three of his eight doubles on the campaign in his last nine games. Despite the lack of extra-base knocks, Diaz has managed 16 runs scored and 21 RBI across 42 games and comfortably remains Houston's top option behind the dish. Rotowire.com Friday, 7:20 am

      Yainer Diaz went 1-for-4 with a double, 3 RBI and a run scored against the Athletics on Thursday.

      Advice: Diaz opened the scoring with a bases-clearing double in the third inning off Joey Estes and the route was on from there. He hit 23 home runs in 104 games last year, but his power is noticeably down this year. His .119 ISO is well below his .256 ISO from last year. Diaz doesn’t walk often, but has cut his strikeout percentage to 13 percent so far this year.     • Swats solo homer
      Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run during Thursday's 6-5 win over the Phillies in extra innings.

      Advice: Alonso tagged Taijuan Walker (foot) for a solo shot in the first inning, putting the first baseman at 10 homers this season. He's now tied for the fourth-most home runs in the NL and owns a .772 OPS with 23 RBI and 27 runs through 164 at-bats. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:48 pm

      Pete Alonso went 1-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and a solo home run against the Phillies on Thursday.



      Advice: The homer was Alonso’s 10th of the season. He’s probably having his worst season of his career so far. Still, Alonso is one of the most reliable players in fantasy baseball and we’ll almost certainly still be looking at close to 40 home runs and 100 RBI from him at the end of the season.

    • Pete Alonso hitting 2nd for Mets
      Pete Alonso will hit second for the Mets on Thursday against the Phillies

      Advice: This is the second straight start for Alonso in the second spot in the order, while Starling Marte moves down the sixth. Carlos Mendoza is clearly trying to jumpstart this Mets offense, and he was with the Yankees as a coach when they hit Aaron Judge second in the lineup, so perhaps he’s trying to recapture some of that magic. Alonso has just a .306 on-base percentage this year, which is the lowest of his career and his RBI opportunities will take a hit with the move out of the cleanup spot, so it’s unclear if this is a great decision. However, the big first baseman needs improve on his .756 OPS before we can worry about the impact of his spot in the lineup. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:06 pm
       
    • Homers in Wednesday's loss
      Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 7-2 loss to the Angels.

      Advice: Goldschmidt is on a five-game hitting streak, having gone 7-for-23 (.304) with two homers and four RBI in that span. The burst of offense has doubled his homer total for the year to four, and he's up to 15 RBI, 20 runs scored, two stolen bases and three doubles while slashing .206/.291/.300 across 41 contests. Goldschmidt sat out a game just prior to his current streak, so it appears the mental reset is paying off in the short term, though his counting stats are unlikely to improve much if the team around him doesn't collectively start hitting better.
