• Productive third rehab game
Polanco (hamstring) shifted his rehab assignment to Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday, playing seven innings at second base and going 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run in a loss to Las Vegas.

Advice: It was a feel-good night all around for Polanco within the context of his recovery, as he handled the bump up in affiliate from High-A Everett well and logged his longest time on the field yet over his first three minor-league games. The veteran infielder is likely due for at least one more outing with the Rainiers before activation is considered, and in addition to the apparently improved condition of his previously ailing hamstring, it's encouraging Polanco has reached safely in all three rehab games thus far. • Leaves following HBP on elbow
Arenado was removed from Wednesday's game in Miami after being hit by a pitch on the right elbow, Lynn Worthy of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. He went 2-for-3 with his first stolen base of the season and a run scored prior to exiting the game.

Advice: A Huascar Brazoban offering in the top of the eighth inning caught Arenado, who went down in a heap. He looked to be in considerable pain and eventually exited the field with a trainer. The Cardinals should have more on his condition shortly. Rotowire.com Today, 11:54 am

  • Nolan Arenado exits after taking pitch off right elbow
Nolan Arenado left Wednesday’s game against the Marlins after being hit on the right elbow by a pitch.

Advice: Arenado was still in a whole lot of pain and not moving his arm as he was helped off. José Fermín replaced him in the contest. If Arenado goes on the IL, Fermín would stand to benefit, but the Cardinals could also give Brandon Donovan more infield time. Rotoworld Today, 11:49 am

  • Moves up to big club
The Orioles selected Maton's contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Advice: Outfielder Kyle Stowers was optioned to Triple-A to make room on the 26-man active roster for Maton, who will give the Orioles some extra coverage in the infield while Jordan Westburg is day-to-day with a bruised hip. Even if Westburg doesn't heal as quickly as expected and eventually moves to the injured list, Ramon Urias would likely be in line ahead of Maton for a regular role in the infield. Maton had produced a .294/.387/.483 slash line and seven home runs over 168 plate appearances with Norfolk. Rotowire.com Today, 10:23 am

  • Orioles call up INF Nick Maton from Triple-A
Orioles selected the contract of INF/OF Nick Maton from Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Maton was hitting .292/.390/.481 in 182 plate appearances in the minors this season. He’ll serve as a reserve infielder until Jordan Westburg is feeling better. The Orioles could keep him around afterwards, too, since he probably makes more sense as a seldom-used 26th man than any of the younger players on the 40-man roster. Rotoworld Today, 10:14 am

  • Not in Washington lineup
Senzel is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Senzel is hitless over his last five games, so he will be given a day off to regroup. Trey Lipscomb will start at third base in Senzel's stead. Rotowire.com Today, 9:58 am

  • Smacks homer Tuesday
Donovan went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-8 extra-inning loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Donovan has gone 15-for-51 (.294) over his last 13 games, adding two homers and seven RBI in that span. The 27-year-old got a rare start at third base Tuesday with Nolan Arenado taking a day off, though Donovan has found consistent playing time between left field and second base for much of the year. He's at a .247/.319/.380 slash line with six homers, 32 RBI, 32 runs scored and one stolen base over 67 games. Rotowire.com Today, 9:56 am

  • Doubles in majors return
Nevin, summoned from Triple-A Las Vegas earlier in the day, went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run in a 7-5 win over the Royals on Tuesday.

Advice: Nevin wasted no time carrying over the momentum he'd built up while toiling for the Aviators in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League, lacing his fourth two-bagger of the season one inning after drawing a free pass and coming around to score on Zack Gelof's three-run home run. Nevin drew the start at third base Tuesday and could work himself into some fairly regular playing time at either corner infield spot or designated hitter if he continues to swing a hot bat. • Heading to bench Wednesday
Flores is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: Flores has now hit the bench in two straight matchups with right-handed pitchers, though it's not yet clear if he's moved back into a pure platoon role at first base with the lefty-hitting Trenton Brooks, who gets the start Wednesday but is hitting .143 over 21 at-bats since getting called up from Triple-A Sacramento. Flores, meanwhile, is hitting .212 on the season, and he owns a .198/.291/.287 slash line over 117 plate appearances against righties. Rotowire.com Today, 8:41 am
