    • Set to resume throwing program
Romano (elbow) is expected to resume throwing Monday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Advice: The right-hander will throw from flat ground and stretch out to 150 feet before beginning mound work. The Blue Jays are proceeding cautiously with their closer after he received an anti-inflammatory injection June 2, but Romano might still be able to avoid a rehab stint before being activated from the injured list. • Logs save No. 19
Holmes picked up the save Sunday against the Dodgers. He pitched a scoreless ninth but allowed two hits and struck out a batter.

Advice: Holmes quickly got the first two outs of the inning, but then ran into some trouble after allowing back-to-back base hits to bring Mookie Betts up to the plate. Holmes was able to get Betts to whiff on a slider to end the game and pick up his 19th save. Holmes is now tied with Emmanuel Clase for second in baseball in saves. He's been excellent this season, posting a 1.23 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 29:8 K:BB in 29.1 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 3:59 am
    • Clay Holmes walks tightrope, but escapes with save
Clay Holmes walked the tightrope against the Dodgers in the ninth inning on Sunday, but managed to escape with a two-run lead intact to earn his 19th save of the season.

Advice: Holmes had no trouble getting the first two outs of the inning, but then he allowed singles to Gavin Lux and Enrique Hernandez to put the tying runs on base for Mookie Betts. He battled back though, getting Betts on a swinging third strike to close it out for the Yankees. The 31-year-old hurler has been outstanding this season, posting a 1.23 ERA and 29/8 K/BB ratio over 29 1/3 innings to go along with his 19 saves. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:56 pm
    • Notches first win
Duran (1-2) picked up the win Sunday against Pittsburgh, striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning. He did not allow a baserunner.

Advice: Duran was roughed up by Pittsburgh on Saturday, allowing three earned runs in two-thirds of an inning. The hard-throwing right-hander was able to rebound Sunday, pitching a clean ninth frame to earn his first win. Duran has not received a save opportunity since June 2, but he is still the Twins' top closer, going a perfect 10-for-10 in save chances after missing the first month of the season with an oblique injury. • Records just four outs
Montas (3-5) took the loss Sunday against the Cubs, allowing four earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two in 1.1 innings.

Advice: The right-hander never found his footing Sunday, loading the bases in the first inning and surrendering a bases-clearing double to Ian Happ. Things didn't get much better for Montas in the second inning as he allowed an RBI single before exiting with runners on second and third. Those runners did not come around to score, but Montas was highly disappointing following a dazzling performance at Coors Field last week, when he recorded nine strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. The 31-year-old currently owns a 4.55 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP with 44 strikeouts in 55.1 innings, but his inconsistency makes him a high-risk, high-reward play for fantasy managers. He will look to rebound in his next start, currently scheduled for next weekend in Milwaukee. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:09 pm
    • Frankie Montas pulled in second versus Cubs
Frankie Montas got just four outs and allowed four runs Sunday in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Montas followed up his best start of the year (7 IP, 0 R, 1 H in Coors Field) five days ago with his worst showing in this one. He walked three batters during a three-run first, and he was pulled after giving up hits to three of the first four batters he faced in the second. Fortunately for Montas’s ERA, Carson Spiers stranded both runners after taking over. Montas is 3-5 with a 4.55 ERA. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:08 pm
    • Jordan Romano to resume throwing on Monday
Jordan Romano (elbow) is scheduled to resume throwing on Monday.

Advice: Blue Jays manager John Schneider added that Romano received an anti-inflammatory injection in his right elbow last weekend. It’s going to take a couple weeks for the 31-year-old closer to build up his arm strength before returning to Toronto’s bullpen, but it’s an encouraging sign that he’s been cleared to resume throwing again. • Records save Thursday
Holmes earned a save against the Twins on Thursday, allowing one hit and striking out one batter in a scoreless inning.

Advice: Holmes gave up a one-out single after entering the game in the ninth frame, but that's all Minnesota managed against him. The talented closer has held opponents without an earned run in 27 of his 28 appearances this season, resulting in an excellent 1.32 ERA. Holmes ranks third in the majors with 18 saves (in 21 chances) on the campaign. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:08 pm
    • Holmes picks up 18th save against Twins
Clay Holmes tossed a scoreless inning and picked up the save against the Twins on Thursday.

Advice: The save was Holmes’ 18th of the season. He has allowed an earned run in only one of 28 appearances this year. Holmes has been fabulous with a 1.32 ERA and 28 strikeouts on the season. Rotoworld Thursday, 8:24 pm
