    • Freddy Peralta strikes out 11 in loss to Cubs
      Freddy Peralta allowed one earned run and three hits over 5 2/3 innings while striking out 11 in Tuesday’s loss to the Cubs.

      Advice: Peralta was solid in this one, striking out 11 batters while allowing just five total base runners. A solo homer by Michael Busch in the third inning was his lone blemish on the night, as Peralta largely held the Cubs in check. He was bailed out of a loss thanks to a two-out RBI single by Willy Adames in the ninth and is now sporting a 3.61 ERA and 1.06 WHIP through 11 games.     • Gavin Stone twirls seven-inning gem to beat Mets
      Gavin Stone recorded seven strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Tuesday in a win over the Mets.

      Advice: Stone drew the starting assignment for the nightcap of Tuesday’s twin bill at Citi Field and authored one of his best outings of the year. He scattered three hits, didn’t hand out a free pass, and established a new season-high mark with seven strikeouts. The 25-year-old righty has allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight of his 10 starts this season and will bring a respectable 3.16 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 41/17 K/BB ratio across 57 innings (10 starts) into a road matchup next Wednesday against the Pirates.     • Snaps losing streak Monday
      Miller (4-5) earned the win over Houston on Monday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six batters over six innings.

      Advice: Miller came into the contest having lost three consecutive outings, during which he posted a 5.71 ERA. The right-hander bounced back with his sixth quality start of the season and his sixth outing with at least six strikeouts.     • Bryce Miller strong for six to take down Astros
      Bryce Miller pitched six innings of two-run ball for the win as the Mariners edged the Astros 3-2 on Monday.

      Advice: Seattle got three in the bottom of the first and Houston scored twice in the fifth to account for all of the scoring. Miller was actually perfect through four before giving up four hits in the fifth and one more in the sixth. He struck out six.     • Dodgers-Mets game postponed
      Stone and the Dodgers won't play Monday against the Mets after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

    • Handed first loss
      Suarez (9-1) yielded five runs (four earned) on three hits and four walks over six innings Sunday, striking out nine and taking a loss against the Rockies.

      Advice: Colorado pounced on Suarez early, plating two runs in the first inning and another three in the second. He was able to settle in for four shutout frames to finish the start, but the damage was already done. It was the first time this season he's issued more than two walks or allowed more than three runs. On a more positive note, Suarez generated a season-high 19 whiffs and improved his K:BB to 77:16 through 72 frames.     • Suffers second defeat
      Yamamoto (5-2) suffered the loss Sunday against the Reds, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out eight.

      Advice: Yamamoto was done in by a lack of run support combined with a tough-luck four-run third inning. Yamamoto recorded two outs in the third but an infield single by Jake Fraley extended the inning while loading the bases and was followed by consecutive two-run singles by Jonathan India and Nick Martini. The outing marked Yamamoto's first defeat since the first game of the season and came on the heels of an impressive five-game stretch where Yamamoto went 4-0 with a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 31 strikeouts across 32 innings.     • Ranger Suárez struggles with command in loss
      Ranger Suárez allowed five runs (four earned) on three hits in six innings in a loss to the Rockies on Sunday.

      Advice: Suárez struck out nine but also walked four and threw just 42 percent of pitches in the strike zone. He did rack up an impressive 39 percent whiff rate but he had just 12 called strikes on the day, compared to 19 whiffs. Given that this game was in Colorado, we can give Suárez a little bit of a pass; however, he might still be a solid sell-high candidate if a fantasy manager in your league values him as a top 20-25 starting pitcher the rest of the way.     • Tough-luck loss Saturday
      Berrios (5-4) took the loss Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits over seven innings as the Blue Jays fell 2-1 to the Tigers. He struck out five without walking a batter.

      Advice: The right-hander was sharp, generating 28 called or swinging strikes among an efficient 83 pitches, but a two-run homer by Kerry Carpenter in the first inning proved to be the difference as Toronto's bats had little success against Reese Olson. The quality start was the third straight for Berrios and his ninth in 11 outings this season, and he'll take a 2.94 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 53:18 K:BB through 67.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Pirates.
