    Advice: Despite being staked to a 6-0 lead by the end of the fourth inning, Peterson wasn't efficient enough to qualify for his fourth straight win as he needed 103 pitches (62 strikes) to record his 13 outs. The southpaw has walked multiple batters in four straight outings but has mostly been able to limit the damage, and he'll take a 3.67 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 20:13 K:BB through 27 innings into his next start, which is currently scheduled to come on the road early next week against the Nationals.     Judge went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, a home run and five RBI in Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Mets.

    Advice: Most of his damage came on a grand slam in the eighth inning off Reed Garrett as the Yankees tried to mount a comeback from a 9-1 deficit.     Cole (0-1) took the loss Tuesday as the Yankees fell 9-7 to the Mets, surrendering six runs on seven hits -- including four home runs -- and four walks over four innings. He failed to strike out a batter.

    Advice: Making his second start of the season after recovering from an elbow issue, Cole simply couldn't locate his pitches as he served up four or more long balls for only the second time in his career -- the other such start came against the Twins in June 2022. The veteran right-hander did throw 72 pitches (44 strikes) Tuesday, up from 62 in his season debut as the Yankees gradually increase his workload.     Advice: Steer's been locked in of late, going 11-for-35 with eight RBI over the last nine contests. He began the season as the team's primary left fielder but has played a lot at first base since Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) landed on the injured list in May. With news the Encarnacion-Strand opted for surgery that likely spells the end of his season, Steer is in line to become the club's primary first baseman.     India batted leadoff and went 2-for-2 with two walks, two doubles, two steals and three runs scored in Tuesday's 9-5 loss to the Pirates.

    Advice: He was also hit by a pitch. India batted leadoff for a second straight game, filling in at the spot normally handled by TJ Friedl, who was added to the 10-day injured list Monday with a hamstring injury. In two games atop the order, India is 5-for-6 with three walks, four doubles, two steals and six runs scored. The two steals lifted him to eight for the season.     Thomas (hamstring) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Reno on Tuesday and could rejoin the Diamondbacks this weekend, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Thomas began what is expected to be the final stage of his rehab assignment, playing seven innings in center field while going 1-for-3 with an RBI for Reno. The outfielder has 18 plate appearances thus far on rehab with most of those coming in the Arizona Complex League. He could get more looks against advanced pitching while with the Aces over the next two days before rejoining Arizona on Friday in time for the weekend series against the Athletics.   • Homers, drives in four in win
    Rortvedt went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI in Tuesday's 11-3 win over the Mariners.

    Advice: Rortvedt walked in the fifth inning, hit a two-run home run in the sixth and added a two-run single in the seventh. The catcher has enjoyed a great June, hitting .333 with three home runs and 14 RBI over 45 at-bats. The 26-year-old only has 15 at-bats against left-handed pitching this season, but he is slashing a solid .282/.369/.405 with three homers and 23 RBI in 146 at-bats against righties.   • Cole: velocity dip versus Mets intentional
    Gerrit Cole said after Tuesday’s start that he’s healthy and that he intentionally dialed back his velocity tonight after a long first inning.

    Advice: Cole topped out at 98.9 mph in the first tonight, but he was often throwing 92-93 mph in the second. He did pick it up some in the end, throwing his final fastball 95.3 mph, but it was an awfully discouraging performance. It’s good to know he doesn’t think he’s hurt, though.
