• Diaz has two hits in win over Cubs Thursday
Yandy Diaz went 2-for-4 with an RBI against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: Diaz’ RBI single was the difference in the 3-2 Rays win. The defending batting champion in the American League is heating up at the plate. He’s now 17-for-50 (.340) in his last 12 games to get his average up to .260 on the season.

  • Alek Thomas (hamstring) starts rehab assignment
Alek Thomas (hamstring) started a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Advice: Thomas has been out since early April due to a left hamstring strain and an early-May setback that delayed his return even further. There’s a strong possibility he’s back before the end of June. Rotoworld Thursday, 4:37 pm

  • Randy Arozarena (hamstring) rejoins Rays lineup
Randy Arozarena (hamstring) is back in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cubs.

Advice: Arozarena is playing left field and batting second against the Cubs after being held out of the lineup for the last two games of the series due to right hamstring tightness. He was able to pinch-hit each of the last two nights and remained in to play left field last night. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward. Rotoworld Thursday, 12:54 pm
  • Returns to Tampa Bay lineup
Arozarena (hamstring) will start in left field and bat second in Thursday's game versus the Cubs.

Advice: Arozarena missed the previous two contests with right hamstring tightness but is feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. The 29-year-old will bring a disappointing .599 OPS into play Thursday. Rotowire.com Thursday, 12:19 pm
  • Strong in return to rotation
Cannon allowed one run on four hits and a walk while striking out seven over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Cannon dueled with Seattle starter Bryce Miller for seven innings, but the Mariners struck first when Luke Raley hit a solo home run in the seventh. This was still Cannon's best start of the season, and it appears he'll have a chance to stick in the rotation for a while following the White Sox's recent reshuffling of their pitching staff. The 23-year-old is at a 4.56 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 24:5 K:BB over 23.2 innings over five appearances (four starts). Mike Clevinger (elbow) is expected to require a rehab assignment prior to returning to the Chicago rotation, and since that has yet to be announced, it seems likely Cannon will take the mound during next week's home series versus the Astros, especially after the right-hander's strong showing in Seattle. • Jonathan Cannon allows one run in no-decision
Jonathan Cannon allowed one run with seven strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision against the Mariners on Wednesday.

Advice: Cannon put together his best start of the season. He had tossed six scoreless innings, scattering three hits and one walk before Luke Raley took him deep to break the tie game in the seventh. Cannon finished out the seventh, striking out seven batters on the day. The 23-year-old right-hander will take a 4.56 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and a 24/5 K/BB ratio across 23 2/3 innings into a start against the Astros in Chicago on Tuesday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:19 pm
  • Homers twice in win
Candelario went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in a 4-2 win over the Guardians on Wednesday.

Advice: Candelario hit a solo home run off Tanner Bibee in the first inning and followed it up with a three-run homer off Bibee to give the Reds a 4-2 lead in the sixth. He then added a single in the eighth. Candelario has been mashing in June, hitting .340 with five homers and 11 RBI through 11 contests. While Candelario's .243 season average still isn't great, he now has 11 home runs and 31 RBI in 248 plate appearances and is hitting in the heart of a hot Reds lineup. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 8:05 pm
  • Jeimer Candelario powers Reds past Guardians
Jeimer Candelario blasted a pair of homers and drove in four runs on Wednesday night, accounting for all of the Reds’ offense in a 4-2 victory over the Guardians.

Advice: The 30-year-old infielder opened the scoring in the contest with a 404-foot (104.1 mph EV) solo shot off of Tanner Bibee. He then put the Reds ahead to stay with a 343-foot (96.9 mph EV) three-run blast that chased Bibee from the game in the sixth inning. Candelario also singled in the ballgame, finishing the night 3-for-4. On the season, he’s now slashing .243/.306/.476 with 11 homers and 31 RBI. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:08 pm
  • Struggles in third rehab start
Silseth (elbow) struck out three and gave up six earned runs on four hits and five walks over 2.2 innings Tuesday in his rehab start with Triple-A Salt Lake.

Advice: Silseth struck out 10 over seven shutout innings between his first two rehab outings in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, but he struggled with both his control and command Tuesday while shifting his rehab to a higher-level affiliate. The Angels had hoped that he would build up to about five innings in Tuesday's rehab outing, but he fell well short of that benchmark, even though he pushed up his pitch count to 71 (35 strikes) after tossing 56 pitches in his prior outing in the ACL. Though Silseth could be a candidate to return from the 60-day injured list to rejoin the big-league rotation as soon as Sunday in San Francisco, the Angels may prefer to have him make one more start in the minors to iron out his control.
