  • Hits sixth homer
Schanuel went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Padres.

Advice: Schanuel hit a leadoff homer in the first inning on Dylan Cease's fifth pitch of the game. Prior to Wednesday, Schanuel was stuck in an 0-for-18 rut, adding just one walk and one hit-by-pitch in that span. The first baseman hasn't done much this year with a .216/.287/.330 slash line, six homers, 19 RBI, 18 runs scored and no stolen bases over 218 plate appearances. While the 22-year-old hasn't hit well, he's yet to slip down the order from the leadoff spot he's occupied for much of the campaign. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:27 pm
  • Ends perfect-game bid with homer
Santana went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: Santana's sixth-inning solo shot was a faint murmur of protest with New York up big, but it did put an end to opposing starter Carlos Rodon's run of retiring 16-straight batters. The long ball was just the second for the veteran slugger since he homered in three straight contests May 10-12. Santana has nine home runs overall on the campaign and is slashing .217/.302/.392 with 24 RBI, 19 runs and a stolen base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:11 pm

  • Josh Bell collects three hits in loss to Rays
Josh Bell went 3-for-4 and drove in a run as the Marlins fell to the Rays on Wednesday evening in Miami.

Advice: Bell plated Vidal Brujan with a run-scoring single off of Shawn Armstrong in the fifth inning, pulling the Marlins to within two runs at 5-3. That would be as close as they would get. The 31-year-old slugger’s bat has perked up since a rough April and is now hitting .255/.324/.391 with six homers and 30 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:03 pm
  • Pavin Smith has three hits, homers in losing effort
Pavin Smith went 3-for-4 with a solo homer on Wednesday in the Diamondbacks’ loss to the Giants.

Advice: Smith has been running hot over the last few weeks as he’s homered in back-to-back games and is batting a sizzling .355 (11-for-31) with two homers and seven RBI over his last 15 contests. There isn’t a ton of appeal here for fantasy managers outside of NL-only formats, but he’s a name to keep on radar screens in the even that he can keep the momentum going. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:13 pm
