    • Abraham Toro hits go-ahead homer in eighth
      Abraham Toro hit a go-ahead homer in the bottom of the eighth Tuesday as the A’s came back to defeat the Rockies 5-4.

      Advice: Toro’s blast came after Seth Brown tied the game with a two-run homer in the seventh. Toro, who was supposed to become a reserve due to the J.D. Davis acquisition at the end of the spring, has won back his job by hitting .294/.344/.459 in 183 plate appearances.     • Stuck with loss
      Kikuchi (2-4) took the loss Tuesday against the White Sox, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks across six innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Tuesday's performance marked Kikuchi's third quality start in his last four appearances. However, he owns a 0-2 record during that stretch as the Blue Jays have struggled offensively. The 33-year-old walked multiple batters for the first time since April 10 and was charged with two earned runs or fewer for the eighth time in 10 outings. On the year, Kikuchi owns a 2.64 ERA -- which would be a career-best tally -- with 61 strikeouts across 58.0 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Tigers on Sunday.     • Matt Chapman has two hits, HR in loss
      Matt Chapman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in a loss to the Pirates on Tuesday.

      Advice: Chapman had three of the four hardest-hit balls on the Giants during the game. He had a 113.1 mph groundout, a 106.4 mph double, and a 104.8 mph home run that traveled 414 feet. He also added another 103.2 mph groundout, so it’s safe to say he was seeing the ball pretty well on Tuesday. The veteran is now 19-for-68 (.279) with two home runs, 15 runs scored, and eight RBI during May. He continues to hit cleanup for the Giants every game and is an underrated fantasy option.     • Kikuchi lacks run support in loss to White Sox
      Yusei Kikuchi allowed two earned runs over six innings in the Blue Jays’ loss to the White Sox.

      Advice: Kikuchi was fine for much of the evening but gave up a two-RBI single to Corey Julks in the fifth inning, which looked like a devastating blow to a Blue Jays offense that managed just two hits on the night. Kikuchi’s record sits at 2-3 on the year despite a solid 2.64 ERA. The Jays entered the day as one of the worst run-scoring offenses in the league, making wins hard to come by for Kikuchi, who has yet to earn a win in May despite allowing just six earned runs over 24 1/3 innings on the month.       Advice: Muncy fielded grounders on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium as he works his way back from a right oblique strain that sent him to the injured list last week. It certainly doesn’t appear that he’s facing a lengthy absence, but oblique issues can be tricky. There should be a definitive timetable for his return at some point in the next few days.       Muncy took some groundballs Tuesday as he started up baseball activities after his recent oblique strain, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

      Advice: The Dodgers placed Muncy on the 10-day injured list Friday due to a Grade 1 right oblique strain. According to manager Dave Roberts, Muncy sustained the strain in batting practice prior to Thursday's game.       Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters on Tuesday that Kodai Senga (shoulder) has resumed playing light catch.

      Advice: Senga was scratched from a scheduled bullpen session earlier this week due to triceps tightness, so the fact that he’s already back throwing already is encouraging. The 31-year-old righty remains in rehabilitation purgatory as he tinkers with his mechanics. At this point, it’s extremely difficult to pinpoint when he’ll be ready to return this season, if at all.       Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Senga (shoulder/triceps) played light catch Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

      Advice: Senga -- who is on the injured list with a right posterior shoulder capsule strain -- had to have a scheduled bullpen session Sunday scrapped due to right triceps tightness. The hope is that he'll be able to throw off a mound later this week, though, and it's a good sign that he was able to do any kind of throwing Tuesday. Senga's timetable for a return is open-ended.       Advice: Batting cleanup against righty Erick Fedde, Bichette scorched the ball all afternoon, and his final two doubles left his bat with exit velocities of 110.4 mph and 105.8 mph. After a tough start to 2024, the shortstop is catching fire at the plate, recording three multi-hit performances in his last six games and slashing .368/.429/.553 over his last 10 contests.
