• Tyler Stephenson homers in loss
Tyler Stephenson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Advice: Stephenson took Paul Sewald deep 399 feet at 101.2 mph off the bat for his fourth home run of the season. He also had a 101.6 mph flyout and a 96.4 mph flyout on the day. Despite slashing just .213/.318/.413 on the season, Stephenson is posting an 18.5 percent barrel rate and a career-high 13 percent walk rate. He’s being far more patient at the plate and is swinging and missing less than he ever has. It’s possible he’s being too patient, but the quality of contact has been strong and he could be due for a hot streak very soon. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago
  • Rutschman extends hit streak to five in loss
Adley Rutschman went 1-for-4 in the Orioles’ 3-0 loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.

Advice: Offense was hard to come by for the Orioles in this one, as Rutschman’s hit was one of just three the Birds recorded on the evening. The real story of the night was the Nationals pitching, as starter Trevor Williams struck out eight batters over five innings while the bullpen notched four more K’s. Rutschman has now hit safely in five straight games and is 8-for-25 at the plate in the month of May. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago
  • Suffers arm fracture
Contreras fractured his left arm during Tuesday's game against the Mets, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Advice: Contreras had to leave Tuesday's contest in the second inning after his arm was struck by a J.D. Martinez swing. He will almost certainly spend an extended period of time on the injured list, leaving Ivan Herrera as the Cardinals' new primary catcher. Pedro Pages was pulled from his game at Triple-A Memphis shortly after Contreras went down and may be promoted to serve as Herrera's backup. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago

  • Willson Contreras suffers fractured left forearm
Willson Contreras was removed from Tuesday’s showdown against the Mets with a fractured left forearm.

Advice: Brutal. Contreras was struck directly on the left forearm by a swing, not a backswing, from Mets designated hitter J.D. Martinez and was immediately lifted from the contest. The 31-year-old backstop is facing a lengthy absence, which is a significant loss for the Cardinals, and fantasy managers as well. It’ll be Iván Herrera handling the bulk of the catching duties with Pedro Pagés coming back up from Triple-A Memphis. Rotoworld Today, 5:40 pm

  • Willson Contreras leaves game with arm injury
Willson Contreras was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Mets with an apparent right forearm injury.

Advice: Contreras was in serious pain after taking a J.D. Martinez swing, not a backswing, directly to the left forearm area just below his elbow. We hate to speculate here, but it didn’t look good. There should be an update on his status at some time later this evening following some imaging, but he’s likely going to wind up missing some time. • Exits with hand injury
Contreras was removed from Tuesday's game against the Mets with an apparent left hand injury, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Contreras was hit in the hand by a J.D. Martinez swing during the second inning of Tuesday's contest, and he appeared to be in a significant amount of pain before walking off the field. The 31-year-old backstop will almost certainly go in for X-rays, and the Cardinals should offer an update on his status in the near future. Rotowire.com Today, 5:18 pm

  • Nearing light activity
Bailey (concussion) could start light baseball activity Wednesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Bailey was placed on the 7-day injured list with a concussion Saturday and is now on the cusp of returning to log some activity on the field, according to manager Bob Melvin. The catcher will need to ramp up his work over a few days before he'd potentially be able to return to the lineup. In the meantime, Blake Sabol will likely continue to handle most the work behind the plate due to Tom Murphy (knee) also being unavailable. Rotowire.com Today, 5:11 pm
  • Melvin: Patrick Bailey (concussion) ‘improving’
Patrick Bailey (concussion) is expected to resume light baseball activities this week.

Advice: Giants manager Bob Melvin told reporters Tuesday that Bailey is improving after landing on the concussion injured list over the weekend. There is obviously no timetable for the 24-year-old backstop’s return at this juncture. Rotoworld Today, 5:07 pm
  • Jonah Heim tallies four hits in blowout victory
Jonah Heim went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI on Tuesday in the Rangers’ lopsided win over the Athletics.

Advice: Heim tallied four hits, including - before getting a reprieve from catching the remainder of a one-sided blowout against his former organization at Oakland Coliseum. The four-hit performance raises his batting average to a robust .301 mark in the early stages of the season. Rotoworld Today, 3:50 pm
