      Advice: Assad needed 92 pitches to get through five frames, but he was effective during his time on the mound, limiting the Giants to just a fourth-inning run. However, the right-hander couldn't pick up his first win since mid-May, as Chicago's offense wasn't able to push across a run until after his departure.       Hicks allowed four hits and four walks while striking out four batters over five scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on Monday.

      Advice: Hicks recently battled an illness but was able to take his regular turn in the rotation Monday. He threw only 48 of 87 pitches for strikes and tied a season high in issuing four free passes, but he was able to work around constant traffic on the basepaths to finish with five scoreless frames. It was the first time Hicks has held an opponent scoreless since his season debut against San Diego on March 30, though he's been quite reliable in yielding three or fewer earned runs in all but one of his 15 outings.       Jordan Hicks threw five shutout innings and got a no-decision against the Cubs on Monday.



      Advice: Hicks gave up four hits, walked four and struck out four. It was a solid start for Hicks, who lowered his ERA to 2.82 on the season with the effort. The converted reliever hasn’t completed six innings in a start since April, but he continues to pitch well while he’s out there. The 27-year-old right-hander is set to face his former team the Cardinals on the road this weekend.

      Advice: Giants manager Bob Melvin acknowledged after Hicks' most recent outing in Tuesday's loss to the Astros that the right-hander had been sick for several days leading up to the start. With the ailment further in the rear-view mirror while he takes the hill Monday on five days' rest, Hicks will look to recapture the strong form he displayed earlier in the season.       Advice: Finnegan preserved a 3-1 Nationals lead to notch his 20th save of the season, third in the league behind only Ryan Helsley and Emmanuel Clase.       Advice: Riley Greene took Finnegan deep with one out to make things interesting, but the right-hander slammed the door shut from there. Finnegan has served up three homers in his last 10 appearances, a worrying trend, but those account for the only three earned runs he's allowed during that stretch.       Assad did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-3 win over Tampa Bay, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks with four strikeouts over 4.2 innings.

      Advice: Assad opened with two scoreless frames then allowed a run in the third on a double by Isaac Paredes and another on a solo home run by Jose Siri in the fourth. With two runners on and two outs in the fifth, Assad was pulled at 90 pitches with a 2-1 deficit. Since his last win on May 15, Assad has failed to reach six innings or record a win in five straight outings and has seen his ERA climb from 1.49 to 2.81.
