• Promoted ahead of start
The Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake to start Thursday's game versus Detroit.

Advice: Daniel has yet to pitch in the majors this season despite joining the active roster for one day in May. He posted a 2.19 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through 12.1 innings across three games with the Halos last season, but fantasy managers should expect results closer to his Triple-A statline (5.33 ERA, 1.50 WHIP in 76 innings) as he makes his first career MLB start Thursday. Guillermo Zuniga was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:43 pm

  • Collects fourth win
Jackson (4-1) walked one over 1.1 scoreless and hitless innings to earn the win over the Cubs on Wednesday. He did not record a strikeout.

Advice: Hayden Birdsong went 4.2 innings in his debut and left with the game tied at 3-3. Jackson got the Giants out of the top of the fifth inning there, and Luis Matos put them ahead for a good with a solo shot in their half of the frame. Jackson had allowed five runs over 1.1 innings prior to Wednesday, and he's given up multiple runs three times in 10 appearances in June. Overall, he's struggled to a 6.12 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and 20:14 K:BB through 25 innings while adding two holds and three blown saves in a low-leverage role this year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:13 am
  • Mets place Drew Smith (elbow) on 15-day IL
Mets placed RHP Drew Smith on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 24, with a right elbow sprain.

Advice: No word yet on exactly what was found in Smith’s MRI exam, but he’s going to miss a minimum of a couple of weeks — and likely longer. Ty Adcock was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move on Wednesday to take Smith’s place in the Mets’ bullpen. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:52 pm

  • Lands on injured list
The Mets placed Smith on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right elbow sprain, retroactive to Monday.

Advice: Smith received an MRI after reporting tightness while playing catch earlier Wednesday. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but the Mets have already deemed the sprain worthy of a trip to the IL. Ty Adcock will come up from Triple-A Syracuse to fill the open spot in New York's bullpen. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:40 pm

  • Undergoing MRI on forearm
Smith will undergo an MRI after feeling tightness in his right forearm while playing catch Wednesday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Smith missed a chunk of time earlier this season with a shoulder problem and now has another arm issue to contend with. The righty has been a high-leverage reliever for the Mets this season when healthy, posting a 3.06 ERA and 23:9 K:BB over 17.2 frames. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 1:22 pm

  • Drew Smith (forearm) heading for MRI exam
Mets’ right-hander Drew Smith will undergo an MRI exam on his injured forearm on Wednesday.

Advice: Mets’ skipper Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Smith felt tightness in his forearm after his last outing, so they’ll get some imaging done to see exactly what’s going on there. It’s unclear whether or not they’ll place him on the injured list and make a roster move prior to Wednesday’s game, but it not they’ll be two-men down in their bullpen with Edwin Diaz currently serving his suspension. • Set to start Thursday
Daniel will be recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake to start Thursday's game against the Tigers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Other than a one-day stay with the Halos in mid-May in which he didn't make an appearance, Daniel has spent the entire season at Salt Lake, posting an ugly 5.33 ERA but a more promising 82:25 K:BB across 76 innings covering 14 starts. The 27-year-old right-hander appeared in three games out of the Angels bullpen in 2023, allowing three runs with a 9:9 K:BB over 12.1 frames. With Patrick Sandoval (elbow) out for the season and Jose Soriano (abdomen) still on the injured list, Daniel could get a chance to take multiple turns through the rotation. • Brewers DFA Joel Kuhnel after one day on roster
Brewers designated RHP Joel Kuhnel for assignment.

Advice: Kuhnel, who has a 6.30 ERA in 77 appearances since debuting with the Reds in 2019, didn’t pitch in his one day on Milwaukee’s roster. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:13 am

  • Moved off 40-man roster
The Brewers designated Kuhnel for assignment Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Kuhnel was on the Brewers' 40-man roster and 26-man active roster for one day and didn't make a relief appearance. He can elect free agency if he passes through waivers unclaimed. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:08 am
