• Homers off bench Thursday
O'Hearn hit a two-run homer as a pinch hitter in Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Blue Jays.

Advice: As usual, O'Hearn started the game on the bench with the Orioles facing left-hander Yusei Kikuchi. O'Hearn entered in the ninth inning and delivered a homer to cut the Orioles' deficit to one run, but they couldn't tie it up. The 30-year-old is up to eight homers over 48 contests this season, and he's added a trusty .280/.343/.471 slash line with 20 RBI, 22 runs scored and one stolen base over 172 plate appearances. O'Hearn continues to be in the lineup versus nearly every opposing right-hander. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:27 pm

  • Smacks homer in loss
Vaughn went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 14-2 loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Vaughn has hit safely in his last six games, going 8-for-23 (.348) in that span. He dealt with a sprained left ring finger to begin June, but it hasn't slowed him down since he was cleared to return. The first baseman is up to five homers on the year with 20 RBI, 17 runs scored, one stolen base and a .211/.275/.338 slash line through 233 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:36 pm
  • Gets aboard four times in win
Smith went 3-for-5 with two RBI, one walk and one run scored in Thursday's 14-2 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Smith has three multi-hit efforts over his last six contests since getting a rest day last Thursday. He's also picked up at least one RBI in five of those six games. The 28-year-old is up to a .232/.321/.343 slash line with two home runs, 18 RBI, nine runs scored and no stolen bases over 112 plate appearances since he signed with Boston following his release from Tampa Bay at the start of May. Smith has settled into a strong-side platoon role at first base and played a decent part in run production without adding much else. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:20 pm
  • Freddie Freeman swats three-run homer in win
Freddie Freeman walloped a three-run homer on Thursday in the Dodgers’ win over the Pirates.

Advice: Freeman followed singles by Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani in the opening frame with a no-doubter down the right-field line off Pirates starter Bailey Falter. The 34-year-old first baseman has gone deep twice in his last four contests and is up to eight big flies on the year to go along with a .294 batting average and 38 RBI through 64 games. • CES (wrist) set to resume baseball activities
Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand has been on the shelf since early May due to a right wrist fracture. The biggest question for fantasy managers moving forward is whether his prodigious over-the-fence power will be adversely impacted. The 24-year-old slugger is going to need several weeks to ramp back up fully prior to returning to Cincinnati, but it’s possible he’s back before next month’s All-Star break. • Jake Cave starting again for Rockies
Jake Cave will start his third game in a row for the Rockies, playing left field and batting eighth.

Advice: Injuries to Kris Bryant and Sean Bouchard have opened up playing time opportunities in Colorado, and instead of letting young players like Hunter Goodman or Greg Jones play every day, it seems the Rockies are giving Cave that chance. The veteran hit .212/.272/.348 with five homers and 21 RBI in 65 games with the Phillies last year and remains off the fantasy radar. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:54 pm

  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. swats three-run homer in win
Vladimir Guerrero popped a three-run homer Thursday to help the Blue Jays to a win over the Orioles.

Advice: Vladdy Jr. gave Cade Povich a rude introduction during Povich’s MLB debut with a three-run blast in the third. The 25-year-old also drew a walk and singled. Guerrero Jr. has made loads of hard contact and certainly has been a contributor in the average category with a .295 RBI, but it’s great to see the infielder start to drive the baseball on a more consistent basis as of late. • Back in majors
The Rockies recalled Toglia from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday

Advice: With Kris Bryant (ribs) and Sean Bouchard (foot) headed to the injured list, the Rockies will call upon Toglia to add depth to their depleted outfield group. The 25-year-old owns a .505 OPS through 49 plate appearances in the big leagues this season, but he's slashed .277/.363/.571 with nine homers and 27 RBI since being sent down to Triple-A in late April. • Day off
LeMahieu is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Twins.

Advice: LeMahieu has now started seven of nine games since his return from the injured list but has gone just 4-for-22 with no extra-base hits during that stretch. Oswaldo Cabrera will get the call at third base for the Yankees on Thursday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:22 pm
