• Getting live at-bats in Arizona
Marte has been able to play in exhibition games in Arizona during his suspension, per Reds Daily.

Advice: The Reds Daily X account posted a video of Marte grounding out in an at-bat against Dodgers minor leaguers at a spring training complex in Arizona. Marte won't be playing in any official minor-league games with tracked statistics, but he has still been able to work on maintaining his timing at the dish. He is eligible to return from his suspension June 19, which is also around the time Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) is expected to return from the injured list. • Could return Friday
Rengifo (illness) fielded grounders Monday and could return from the injured list when eligible Friday, per MLB.com.

Advice: Rengifo came down with a viral infection in early May and landed on the IL when the illness caused painful blisters on his feet. His ability to take grounders Monday is a good indication that he's doing better, and there's a chance he could spend the minimum amount of time on the injured list. Upon his return, Rengifo should slide back into a starting role at third base -- Niko Goodrum, Luis Guillorme and Cole Tucker have been filling in at the hot corner in his stead. • Drives in three
Montero went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored Monday against the Paders.

Advice: Montero returned to the lineup after a two-game absence, as he sat in favor of Hunter Goodman. Montero has been in a significant slump, going just 7-for-36 with a 27 percent strikeout rate across 11 contests in May. It's possible he'll continue to lose at-bats to Goodman in the short term, and he will also face additional challenges for playing time when Kris Bryant (back) is able to return. • Begins rehab assignment
Stefanic (quadricep) began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Monday, starting at second base and playing three innings while going 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Advice: On the mend from a left quad strain since late February, Stefanic has reached the final stage of his recovery program now that he's back playing in minor-league games. Since he's been out of commission for nearly two and a half months, Stefanic will presumably stick around in Arizona for a few more games before continuing his rehab at one of the Angels' higher-level affiliates. Once the Angels are confident that he's regained his timing at the plate and has put the quad injury in the rear-view mirror, Stefanic could return from the 60-day injured list around when he's first eligible in late May. He'll likely be ticketed for a utility role once he's reinstated, though Stefanic has a minor-league option remaining and could be sent to Triple-A Salt Lake if the Angels don't have room for him on the big-league roster. • Stays hot in loss
Candelario went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Candelario, who has multiple hits in three of the last six games, is heating up. He's 9-for-24 during that stretch with two doubles, a home run and six RBI. The resurrected bat prompted a move up the order to fifth, after Candelario spent time in the lower third since mid-April. Rotowire.com Today, 3:48 am
  • Plays hero Monday
Newman went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI in Monday's 6-5 win over the Reds.

Advice: Newman ended the night with a walk-off, two-run single off Cincinnati closer Alexis Diaz, who had hit a batter and walked two before the shortstop played hero. It was the third consecutive game with multiple hits for Newman, who is 8-for-12 with four doubles, a triple, two RBI and four runs scored during that stretch. He's added 74 points to his batting average -- from .179 to .253 -- due to this outburst and is more in line with his career mark of .259. He had become the team's primary shortstop, because his glove was more reliable than rookie Blaze Alexander. Newman should continue to serve that role until Geraldo Perdomo (knee) is ready, which is expected to be at some point in June. Rotowire.com Today, 3:28 am

  • Goes deep in victory
Arenado went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 10-5 victory versus the Angels.

Advice: The Cardinals were shut out over six innings before Arenado ignited an eight-run seventh with an inning-opening solo shot to left field. The long ball was just his third of the season and marked only his second extra-base hit over his past seven games. Aside from the lack of power, Arenado hasn't been far off his usual level of production, slashing .268/.327/.386 with 21 RBI and 15 runs through 40 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:04 pm
  • Homers off bench Monday
Hernandez went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-4 extra-inning win over the Giants.

Advice: Hernandez opened May in an 0-for-11 slump, but he's hit safely in each of his last two games, including his seventh-inning blast as a pinch hitter Monday. The utility man is at a poor .220/.278/.305 slash line with two homers, seven RBI, six runs scored and one double through 90 plate appearances. Hernandez hasn't been strictly limited to a short-side platoon role, but that may change once Jason Heyward (back) is able to return from the injured list. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:53 pm

  • Explodes for two homers, four RBI
Bregman went 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs, a double, four total RBI, three total runs and a walk in a 9-2 victory against the Athletics on Monday.

Advice: Bregman came into Monday looking like a shell of his former power-hitting self with just one long ball through 159 plate appearances, but he brought back reminders of his 41-homer 2019 campaign with a pair of solo blasts in the victory. The third baseman capped the big performance with a two-run double in the eighth inning, giving him a season-high four RBI and his second three-hit effort of the campaign. Bregman could be in the midst of turning around what had previously looked like a tepid season, as he's on a five-game hitting streak during which he's gone 8-for-20 (.400 average) with four extra-base hits and six RBI.
