• Recalled ahead of Monday's start
The Tigers recalled Manning from Triple-A Toledo on Monday.

Advice: He will draw a start Monday against the Marlins and should be set for at least a couple starts with the big club while Kenta Maeda (illness) is sidelined. Manning has been solid during his time with the Tigers this season, putting up a 4.24 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 17 strikeouts in 17 innings through three outings. Rotowire.com 2 minutes ago

  • Throws bullpen session
Smyly (hip) threw a bullpen session Monday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Advice: Smyly continues to work through a right hip impingement that landed him on the 15-day IL on April 23. The 34-year-old southpaw will likely need at least one rehab appearance before returning to the majors. Rotowire.com 2 minutes ago

  • Expects just one more rehab start
Urquidy (forearm) said Monday that his next rehab start on Saturday with Double-A Corpus Christi should be his final one before joining the Astros' rotation, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Urquidy threw 48 pitches and allowed three runs over 2.2 innings in his first rehab start with Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday. He will get his pitch count up to 70 on Saturday before sliding into Houston's rotation next week, likely in Oakland against the Athletics. Urquidy has been out all season with a right forearm strain. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

  • Could need just one rehab start
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Monday that Whitlock (oblique) will need just one rehab start provided all goes well in his outing Wednesday with Triple-A Worcester, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Advice: Whitlock has missed nearly a month with a left oblique strain, but the Red Sox apparently feel that he should be sufficiently built up after just the one rehab start. Cooper Criswell has been excellent since joining Boston's rotation, but he could be headed to the bullpen or back to Worcester soon. Rotowire.com 17 minutes ago

  • A.J. Puk rejoins Marlins pen after I.L. stint
Marlins activated LHP A.J. Puk from the 15-day injured list.

Advice: Puk was a starter before going down with shoulder fatigue, but that went badly and he should be in the pen for good now. He might wind up closing for the Marlins later this season if and when Tanner Scott is traded, though if he’s throwing well, it’s very likely that Puk will be sent elsewhere, too. • Plays catch Monday
Dunning (shoulder) threw from 90 feet Monday, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Dunning landed on the 15-day injured list last week with a right rotator cuff strain but said after Monday's throwing session that his pitching arm is feeling stronger. His stint on the IL isn't expected to be a long one, but he'll need to go through a throwing progression so a return when first eligible on May 21 might be a push. Rotowire.com 26 minutes ago

  • José Urquidy due for second rehab start
José Urquidy, who is on the IL with forearm inflammation, will make a second rehab start Saturday for Double-A Corpus Christi.

Advice: Urquidy allowed three runs in 2 2/3 innings Sunday for Triple-A Sugar Land. He’s hoping the upcoming start will be the last before he rejoins Houston’s rotation, but he’ll probably need to pitch a little better for that to happen. Rotoworld 29 minutes ago

  • Drawing start Wednesday
Houser will start on Wednesday in Philadelphia, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Houser made one relief appearance during a brief demotion to the bullpen, tossing two scoreless frames last Friday against Atlanta. There's no guarantee that he'll get any additional starts beyond Wednesday, especially with Tylor Megill (shoulder) a possibility to rejoin the rotation soon. Houser holds an 8.16 ERA in six starts this season. Rotowire.com 30 minutes ago
  • Return this weekend not ruled out
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Monday that it's "possible" Rodriguez (shoulder) rejoins the rotation this weekend against the Mariners, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Rodriguez got through a 30-pitch bullpen session Sunday with no issues and felt fine the day after. The next step for the right-hander has not yet been determined, however, and it's possible a return next week is more likely. Rodriguez has been out since the beginning of May with right shoulder inflammation. Rotowire.com 45 minutes ago
