• Brewers officially add Keuchel to start Wednesday
Brewers selected the contract of LHP Dallas Keuchel.

Advice: Keuchel will start against the Rangers today in his Brewers debut. The former Cy Young Award winner was 7-4 with a 3.93 ERA for Triple-A Tacoma before the Brewers picked him up from the Mariners yesterday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:15 am
  • Activated, will start Wednesday
The Brewers officially added Keuchel to the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Rangers, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Just one day after he was acquired from the Mariners, Keuchel will join the big club and will make his 2024 MLB debut for the seventh different team of his career. The 36-year-old southpaw made 13 starts in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League with Triple-A Tacoma this season, logging a 3.93 ERA and 1.21 WHIP but striking out just 15.6 percent of the batters he faced over 71 innings. Though Milwaukee will likely give Keuchel another start beyond Wednesday to stake a claim to a more permanent spot in the big-league rotation, his pitch-to-contact ways and lack of success in the majors in recent seasons make it difficult to rely on him as a streaming option in fantasy. • Joining rotation Wednesday
The Brewers plan to add Keuchel to the roster and have him start Wednesday's game against the Rangers at American Family Field, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Shortly after Keuchel was acquired from the Mariners on Tuesday, Brewers manager Pat Murphy indicated that the veteran southpaw wasn't viewed merely as organizational depth at the Triple-A level. Keuchel will thus be put to work right away with the big club, slotting in as the team's new No. 5 starter after Carlos F. Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday. The Brewers will make an official roster move prior to Wednesday's 2:10 p.m. ET to activate Keuchel, a two-time All-Star who has seen big-league action with five different teams since leaving the Astros following the 2018 season. Keuchel owns an ugly 6.29 ERA over 260.1 big-league innings dating back to the start of the 2021 campaign, but he had been pitching effectively in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League over 13 starts at Triple-A Tacoma this season (3.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP in 71 innings) prior to joining the Brewers. • Throws sim game
Gallen (hamstring) threw 67 pitches in a simulated game Monday and will next have a bullpen session Thursday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Diamondbacks were preparing for Gallen to throw Monday, whether in a sim game or live batting practice, and decided on the sim game. He next heads to Chase Field on Thursday for a bullpen session, which will be caught by Gabriel Moreno, who is nursing a sprained left thumb. If all goes well Thursday, then Gallen could return during Arizona's series against Oakland that begins Friday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:35 am

  • Cubs to start Hayden Wesneski on Wednesday
The Cubs will have Hayden Wesneski start Wednesday against the Giants.

Advice: It’ll be Hayden versus Hayden (Birdsong, the Giants’ pitcher making his MLB debut). Wesneski hasn’t thrown more than two innings since May 13, so this won’t be a particularly long start, especially if he doesn’t perform better than he has lately; he’s given up six runs and four homers over 7 1/3 innings in his last six appearances. • Clubs leadoff homer in win
Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's 4-3 win versus the White Sox.

Advice: The Dodgers' designated hitter crushed Chris Flexen's fifth pitch of the game 376 feet for a leadoff homer. Ohtani has now batted atop the order eight consecutive games while hitting .419 (13-for-31) with five homers, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored. The Japanese superstar may be on his way to a third MVP campaign, as he's slashing .318/.395/.626 with 24 homers, 63 runs scored, 60 RBI and 16 steals over 356 plate appearances this season. • Ohtani homers, pushes RBI streak to nine games
Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday’s win over the White Sox.

Advice: Chris Flexen’s fifth pitch of the night turned into a 400-foot homer by Ohtani to kick off the first inning. Ohtani’s homer extended his RBI streak to nine games, which ties the Dodgers’ single-season record. Ohtani would drive in another run in the fourth on an RBI single, as he’s now driven in 16 runs over this nine-game span. Rotoworld Tuesday, 8:20 pm

  • Zac Gallen (hamstring) decision coming this week
Zac Gallen (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Thursday.

Advice: Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters they’ll make a decision on Gallen’s next step following his latest throwing session. The hope here for fantasy managers is that the 28-year-old ace will be ready to jump right back into Arizona’s starting rotation without needing a rehab assignment. There should be a decision on his status at some point later this week. Stay tuned. Rotoworld Tuesday, 5:07 pm

  • Roansy Contreras to start Wednesday against A’s
Roansy Contreras will start on Wednesday against the Athletics.

Advice: It’s a favorable matchup for streaming purposes, but Contreras is too risky to roll the dice on, with the notable exception of extremely deep mixed leagues or AL-only formats. The 24-year-old former prospect was acquired last month from the Pirates in a small trade and has fared reasonably well in nine relief appearances for Los Angeles. Angels manager Ron Washington told reporters they’re hoping to get at least four or five innings out of Contreras on Wednesday afternoon. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:10 pm
