    • Adbert Alzolay (forearm) faces live hitters Friday
Adbert Alzolay (forearm) will throw a live bullpen session at the Cubs’ spring training complex in Arizona on Friday.

Advice: It’s the first time that the 29-year-old hurler has faced live hitters as he works his way back from a right forearm flexor strain. If he’s able to avoid any setbacks, it sounds like Alzolay could be ready to return to the Cubs’ bullpen before the month of July is finished. Rotoworld Today, 2:41 pm

    • Facing hitters Friday
Alzolay (forearm) will throw live batting practice Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Advice: Alzolay threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday and is set to face batters for the first time since being placed on the injured list in mid-May. The 29-year-old has been rehabbing with the Cubs' Arizona Complex League affiliate, and he'll likely require a handful of minor-league rehab outings before being activated. • Jarren Duran slides down to second in Sox’ lineup
Jarren Duran will bat second for the Red Sox for Friday night’s battle against the Royals.

Advice: Duran has spent the majority of the season locked into the team’s leadoff spot in the order, but manager Alex Cora has opted to mix is up with opposing left-hander Cole Ragans taking the hill on Friday. Rob Refsnyder will start it off for the Red Sox on Friday night with Duran moved down into more of a run-producing spot in the lineup. Rotoworld Today, 1:02 pm

    • Three hits, three RBI in win
Crawford went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in Thursday's win over the Angels.

Advice: Crawford hit a ground rule double in his first at-bat to lead off the contest before coming around to score Seattle's first run on a Josh Rojas single. The shortstop then went on to drive in runs in two of his next three trips to the plate, starting with a two-run shot in the fourth as the Mariners shot out to an 11-0 lead. It was Crawford's eighth long ball of the season and his first since June 18 against Cleveland. He's still batting just .194 (7-for-36) in July with three extra-base hits, six RBI and five runs scored. Rotowire.com Today, 6:34 am

    • Logs hit in return
Moreno started at catcher and went 1-for-3 with a walk in Thursday's 1-0 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Moreno was back in the lineup after being scratched from Wednesday's game due to back tightness. His biggest contribution was guiding four pitchers to an impressive shutout win, which got the Diamondbacks back to .500 in the standings. Rotowire.com Today, 5:10 am
    • Impressive again Thursday
Steele (2-3) earned the win over Baltimore on Thursday, pitching seven scoreless innings during which he gave up three hits and issued no walks while striking out four batters.

Advice: Steele shut down a potent Orioles lineup, retiring the first 11 batters he faced and allowing just three baserunners (all on doubles) overall. The left-hander couldn't get into the win column over his first 12 starts but has now notched consecutive victories, allowing just one run over 16 innings while posting an 11:2 K:BB during that stretch. Steele's excellence extends further than that -- he's posted seven straight quality starts, registering a 1.65 ERA and 45:7 K:BB across 49 frames over that span. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:35 pm
    • J.P. Crawford goes 3-for-3, homers against Angels
J.P. Crawford went 3-for-3 with a homer, a double and three RBI against the Angels on Thursday.

Advice: Crawford probably ought to be batting in the bottom third of a major league lineup, but since the Mariners have a lot of guys fitting that description, he’s remained the everyday leadoff man this season. The excellent game tonight puts him at .212/.308/.357 in 308 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:34 pm

    • Goes deep in win
Swanson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Thursday's 8-0 win over the Orioles.

Advice: The home run was Swanson's ninth of the season and first since June 19. Since then, the shortstop has batted just .191 across 19 games. For the season, Swanson is hitting .209, which is a decent step back from his career average of .250. While it's been a disappointing first half, the 30-year-old is talented enough to pick things up in a hurry, so fantasy managers should try to remain patient. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:24 pm

    • Lands seventh victory
Gausman (7-8) picked up the win Thursday against San Francisco, allowing two runs on six hits and no walks across seven innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Both runs charged to Gausman came in the first inning when Heliot Ramos launched a two-run home run. Outside of the long ball, Gausman was able to induce enough soft contact to make it through seven innings while generating only seven whiffs. The 33-year-old entered Thursday's start with losses in four of his previous five appearances, and he allowed four or more runs three times during that stretch. However, he's logged a quality start in back-to-back outings and owns a 4.50 ERA across 104.0 innings heading into the All-Star break. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:08 pm
