• Alex Burleson hits first homer in Cardinals’ win
Alec Burleson’s first homer of the year was a three-run shot off José Buttó in the Cardinals’ 4-2 win over the Mets on Friday.

Advice: The Cardinals could have sent down Burleson instead of Jordan Walker this week, and they still might later once they get Matt Carpenter back. It’d be better, though, if Burleson could start to produce and make himself a candidate to start regularly against righties in left field. He came into the night with a .255/.296/.294 line and two RBI in 54 plate appearances. Rotoworld 22 minutes ago
  • X-rays negative
X-rays on Diaz's hand came back negative Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Diaz had to leave Friday's game after getting hit in the hand by a pitch during the eighth inning, but it seems he escaped the incident without suffering any significant damage. He may still step out of the lineup for a game or two to avoid playing with any lingering pain, but an extended absence isn't likely. Rotowire.com 24 minutes ago

  • Michael Busch goes 3-for-4 in Cubs’ victory
Michael Busch went 3-for-4 with a double and a sac fly against the Red Sox on Friday.

Advice: Busch didn’t hit the ball very well tonight, but he hit it to all of the right spots. His double, which barely qualified as a hard-hit ball at 95.1 mph, would have been an out if not for the Green Monster. One of his other hits was a dribbler down the third base line that just would not go foul. Busch will take it; he came into this one 0-for-15 with nine strikeouts in his previous four games. • Exits after HBP
Diaz was removed from Friday's game against the White Sox after getting hit by a pitch, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Advice: Diaz took a 99-mph fastball off his hand during the eighth inning of Friday's contest and was immediately replaced on the bases. He will presumably undergo imaging, and the Rays should offer an update on his status sometime after the game. Rotowire.com Today, 7:07 pm

  • Yandy Díaz leaves game after hit by pitch (hand)
Yandy Díaz was removed from Friday’s game against the Rays after being drilled in the left hand by a pitch from White Sox’ closer Michael Kopech.

Advice: Díaz was the unfortunate victim of a 99.3 mph fastball from Kopech that caught him square on the hand. He’ll head for X-rays to determine if there are any fractures. All fantasy managers can do for now is wait and hope for the best. Expect Rays’ skipper Kevin Cash to provide an update after the game concludes. Rotoworld Today, 7:04 pm

  • Joey Meneses drives in two runs to lead Nationals
Joey Meneses delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth inning on Friday night, propelling the Nationals to a 3-1 victory over the Marlins in Miami.

Advice: Meneses had a chance to drive in some runs in the sixth inning — as he hit with the bases loaded an no outs — but he grounded into a double play. He didn’t fail in his next opportunity though, smacking a two-run single off of Calvin Faucher in the eighth inning to give the Nationals the lead. He’s still looking for his first home run on the season, hitting an empty .256/.333/.282 with 12 RBI. Rotoworld Today, 6:57 pm
  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr. goes 0-for-4 in defeat
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. finished 0-for-4 with an RBI against the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Typical Guerrero this year: he crushed a pair of grounders at 109.5 and 106.7 mph, yet his two flies were both hit softly. Statcast thinks he’s been unlucky, and he probably has been, but even his xBA and xSLG are down significantly from last year. Rotoworld Today, 6:56 pm
  • Resumes swinging
Carpenter (oblique) took swings on the field before Friday's game against the Mets, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Carpenter had been shut down from activity after receiving a PRP injection in his right oblique Monday. He will swing again before Saturday's game, at which point the Cardinals will decide whether or not to send the 38-year-old veteran out on a rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Today, 2:20 pm
  • Back in starting lineup Friday
Drury (hamstring) is starting as the designated hitter and batting fifth in Friday's game against the Twins, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Advice: After returning to action for all three games against the Reds last weekend, Drury missed the past three contests against the Orioles due to a lingering left hamstring injury. The three-game absence, along with the Angels' off day Thursday, seems to have done the trick for Drury, as he'll start at DH for the series opener Friday versus Minnesota. The 31-year-old is slashing .194/.270/.269 with two doubles, six runs, one home run and four RBI over 74 plate appearances to begin the season. Rotowire.com Today, 2:15 pm
