• Moves to 60-day IL
The Athletics transferred Tarnok (hip) to the 60-day injured list Friday.

Advice: Tarnok's move to the 60-day IL will make him ineligible to return until May 28, though the A's were likely always going to take their time building him back up. The 25-year-old righty is scheduled to resume mound work soon and will likely require a minor-league rehab assignment before returning to Oakland's pitching staff. Brett Harris was selected from Triple-A Las Vegas to fill Tarnok's roster spot. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

  • Limited session coming Saturday
Snell (thigh) will throw around 50 pitches Saturday during a bullpen session, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Manager Bob Melvin said if all goes well, the team will make a decision on whether Snell will have a rehab assignment or face hitters in live batting practice next. It was already anticipated that Snell would need more than the minimum 15 days on the injured list with his Grade 2 adductor strain, so a mid-May return is still the best-case scenario. • Josiah Gray (elbow) to throw bullpen on Saturday
Josiah Gray (elbow) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday.

Advice: The 26-year-old hurler continues to make slow and methodical progress in his recovery from a flexor strain. If all goes well with Saturday’s session he could then be cleared to face live hitters. There’s still no clear timetable on when he may be able to rejoin the Nationals’ rotation. • Shifting to bullpen
The Mets are moving Houser to the bullpen for their upcoming road series, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Advice: Houser last started Thursday against the Cubs, allowing four runs on four hits and four walks while striking out two over five innings in a no-decision. He's registering an 8.16 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 16:20 K:BB over 28.2 innings this season and holds an 0-3 record over six starts. With top pitching prospect Christian Scott making his major-league debut Saturday against the Rays and Tylor Megill (shoulder) inching closer to a return, Houser will shift over to the bullpen, at least temporarily. Following New York's road series against St. Louis, the Mets will determine whether Houser's move will be permanent going forward. Rotowire.com 19 minutes ago
  • Athletics transfer Freddy Tarnok to the 60-day injured list
Athletics transferred RHP Freddy Tarnok to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander is still attempting to work his way back from last season’s hip surgery. This was done primarily as a procedural move to free up a spot on the Athletics’ 40-man roster for Brett Harris who had his contract selected from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday. • Could join MLB rotation next week
Javier (neck) will throw four innings or roughly 60-to-65 pitches Saturday for Double-A Corpus Christi before potentially rejoining the big-league rotation, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Manager Joe Espada said the hope is that Javier can rejoin Houston's rotation after this first rehab start, which would line him up to return either Thursday in New York or Friday in Detroit. He has been out since April 14 with neck discomfort. Rotowire.com 23 minutes ago

  • Brought up by Rangers
Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Advice: Rodriguez will fill the spot of Nathan Eovaldi (groin) who was placed on the 15-Day IL on Friday. In six appearances with the Rangers this season, Rodriguez garnered a 10.50 ERA and a 2.50 WHIP with three home runs allowed. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago
  • Joe Ross holds Cubs to one run in six innings
Joe Ross wasn’t involved in the decision after limiting the Cubs to one run over six innings in the Brewers’ 3-1 victory Friday.

Advice: Ross allowed six hits, walked none and struck out four. Both pitchers today benefitted from a typically friendly umpire and a breeze blowing in from center at Wrigley, but Christopher Morel was able to overcome the wind and homer in the sixth, accounting for the only run allowed by either starter. The Brewers rebounded in the eighth, with four singles off Adbert Alzolay producing all three of their runs. Ross remained 1-3 while lowering his ERA to 4.65. He’ll likely face the Royals next. • Trevor Megill nails down save for Brewers
Trevor Megill worked a perfect ninth with a two-run lead for a save against the Cubs on Friday.

Advice: Megill got the ninth after Joel Payamps worked a scoreless eighth today. It looks like this might be the most frequent arrangement until the Brewers get Devin Williams back. Both Megill and Payamps are still probably worth using in 12-team leagues, but of the two, we’d take our chances with Megill. Rotoworld 32 minutes ago
