    Gorman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-6 win over the Red Sox.

    Advice: Gorman's bat is coming around -- he's 6-for-19 (.316) with two homers and four RBI over his last six games. The second baseman took Boston starter Brayan Bello deep in the second inning of this contest. Gorman is up to a .193/.288/.370 slash line with six homers, 16 RBI, 14 runs scored, no stolen bases and six doubles through 153 plate appearances, and he's not helping his cause to remain in an everyday role with a 34.6 percent strikeout rate.   • Extends throwing distance
    Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Rodriguez (shoulder) has extended his throwing program out to 60 feet, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.

    Advice: Rodriguez had to pause his throwing program in early April due to discomfort in his left shoulder, but the fact that he's extended his throwing distance is an encouraging sign.   • Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) throwing at 60 feet
    Diamondbacks’ skipper Torey Lovullo told reporters on Friday that Eduardo Rodriguez is now throwing at a distance of 60 feet.

    Advice: He has yet to throw off of a mound, but the fact that he has been playing catch and gradually increasing his distance is at least an encouraging sign. He’s going to require a long and slow build up — and several minor league rehab starts — before he’s ready to make his Diamondbacks’ debut.   • Evan Carter (back) available off bench on Friday
    Evan Carter (back) was held out of the Rangers’ starting lineup once again on Friday night, but will be available off the bench.

    Advice: The 21-year-old outfielder has been sidelined since Saturday due to stiffness in his lower back. The good news is that he’s progressing and won’t require a trip to the injured list, and likely wouldn’t have been in the starting lineup anyways on Friday with left-hander Tyler Anderson taking the ball for the Angels.   • Throwing off mound
    Eovaldi (groin) will throw a bullpen session Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

    Advice: Friday will mark the first time Eovaldi has thrown off a mound since being diagnosed with a right groin strain May 3. He's eligible to return from the IL on Saturday, but considering the right-hander is just now resuming mound work, he may still be a week or two from returning to Texas' rotation.     Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Carter (back) is available off the bench for Friday's series opener against the Angels, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Carter hasn't played since May 10 against the Rockies due to lower-back inflammation. He received a cortisone shot Monday, and while he won't be starting Friday, he could make a return to the lineup over the weekend.     Advice: Stott initially was left out of the lineup against southpaw Jose Quintana -- a normal occurrence for the lefty-hitting second baseman -- but entered the game as a pinch hitter in the seventh. He walked in his first plate appearance and came around to score on a Kyle Schwarber double, drove in the game-tying run on an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth, and brought the Phillies to within one in the 11th after a fielder's choice plated Nick Castellanos.
