The Twins optioned Kirilloff to Triple-A St. Paul on Wednesday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Advice: Kirilloff will head to Triple-A in order to get back on track after going 2-for-21 with nine strikeouts since the beginning of June, bringing his season slash line down to .201/.270/.384 through 178 plate appearances. The Twins have not yet announced a corresponding move for Kirilloff's demotion, but his absence will likely spell more time in left field for Trevor Larnach. Rotowire.comYesterday, 7:04 pm
Donovan Solano went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI on Wednesday in the Padres’ victory over the Athletics.
Advice: Solano homered off Oakland starter Hogan Harris and reliever Lucas Erceg to turn in one of the most unlikely multi-homer performances of the entire 2024 campaign. It was 36-year-old veteran journeyman’s first two-homer effort since August 4, 2019. RotoworldYesterday, 5:26 pm
Carpenter is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.
Advice: The lefty-hitting Carpenter will hit the bench Wednesday while the Pirates bring southpaw Bailey Falter to the hill. With Carpenter taking a seat, Alec Burleson will get a day out of the outfield and serve as the Cardinals' designated hitter while Dylan Carlson steps in as St. Louis' starting right fielder. Tellez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
Advice: Though he'll take a seat against a right-hander (Sonny Gray), the lefty-hitting Tellez seems to have a firmer grasp on a strong-side platoon role these days while he's begun to heat up at the plate. Over his last six games, Tellez has gone 9-for-19 with a home run, three doubles, two walks, seven RBI and three runs. Rotowire.comYesterday, 3:52 pm
Cavan Biggio starts at third base in Dodgers debut
Cavan Biggio will start at third base and bat ninth in his Dodgers’ debut against the Rangers on Wednesday evening.
Advice: It looks like Biggio could see strong-side platoon at-bats at third base — at least until Max Muncy returns from the injured list — as well as being utilized all over the diamond as a super-utility option. The 29-year-old was hitting a miserable .200/.323/.291 with a pair of homers in 131 plate appearances with the Blue Jays this season before getting designated for assignment and ultimately flipped to the Dodgers. Hernandez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.
Advice: Hernandez will sit for the second consecutive contest after starting the previous four games at third base. The 32-year-old has a .591 OPS in 155 plate appearances this season, and the acquisition of Cavan Biggio -- who is starting at the hot corner Wednesday -- could result in a reduced role. Manzardo is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
Advice: The lefty-hitting Manzardo will exit the lineup while the Reds bring southpaw Nick Lodolo to the bump. Gabriel Arias will receive a turn as the Guardians' designated hitter while Manzardo sits. Rotowire.comYesterday, 3:18 pm
Biggio is starting at third base and batting ninth Wednesday against the Rangers.
Advice: The 29-year-old was officially acquired from Toronto earlier Wednesday and will immediately step into the starting nine for Los Angeles. Biggio struggled in 130 plate appearances for the Blue Jays this season with a .200/.323/.291 slash line and 32.3 percent strikeout rate, but he could see semi-regular playing time at the hot corner while Max Muncy (oblique) is sidelined. Enrique Hernandez has been operating as the Dodgers' primary third baseman but is on the bench Wednesday. Rotowire.comYesterday, 3:17 pm
MRI results revealed Wednesday that Renfroe does not have a fracture in his left big toe, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.
Advice: Renfroe was initially diagnosed with a fractured toe after he fouled two pitches off his left foot during Monday's contest, but it now appears he managed to avoid a significant injury. It's unclear if the 32-year-old outfielder will be able to come off the IL when eligible June 21, but his expected return timeline has been significantly shortened nonetheless.
