    • Tyler O’Neill exits Friday with knee discomfort
      Tyler O’Neill was removed from Friday’s game against the White Sox due to right knee discomfort.

      Advice: O’Neill walked off the field with Boston’s training staff in the third inning of Friday’s contest at Guaranteed Rate Field after experiencing right knee discomfort earlier in the game while catching a routine fly out. The 28-year-old slugger returned earlier this week from the injured list following a nine-game absence due to right knee inflammation. He told reporters afterwards that he’s hopeful this latest incident won’t require another trip to the injured list, but it’s a concerning development that he’s still having knee issues.     • Michael King hurls five scoreless to beat D-backs
      Michael King struck out five over five shutout innings on Friday in a win over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: King received double-digit run support from San Diego’s offense and was able to cruise to a relatively easy win, scattering four hits and one walk over five spotless frames. The 29-year-old righty has been phenomenal of late, allowing three earned runs or fewer in six of his last seven starts since May 4. He’ll carry a sharp 3.58 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 83/32 K/BB ratio across 78 innings (14 appearances, 13 starts) into an extremely favorable matchup on Wednesday afternoon against the rebuilding Athletics.       Ramos went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Friday's 5-2 win over the Rangers.

      Advice: Ramos logged multiple hits for the fourth time in the last five games. This was also his this time leading off in that span, and the first time he's been atop the order against a right-handed pitcher (Michael Lorenzen). Ramos is slashing .320/.416/.515 with five home runs, 20 RBI, 12 runs scored and one stolen base over 27 contests. As long as he's swinging a hot bat, it makes sense to have him at leadoff, especially since he's displayed improved plate discipline with a 13.2 percent walk rate this year.       Advice: King wasn't all that efficient, needing 98 pitches (63 strikes) to get through five games, but that's the only knock on his performance. He's been excellent over his last three starts, allowing just two runs on 11 hits and four walks with 16 strikeouts over his last 17 innings. King is at a 3.58 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 83:32 K:BB through 78 innings across 14 appearances (13 starts).       Advice: Doval was pitching for the first time since giving up four runs in a blown save and a loss to the Yankees on Sunday.       Advice: Doval fired 10 of 15 pitches to quickly retire the Ragners' 3-4-5 hitters in order and finish off the 5-2 win. It was his first appearance since coughing up four runs against the Yankees on June 2. Doval has now converted 10 of his 12 save chances and Friday was his first successful attempt since May 24.
