  • Chirinos (elbow) will not be ready Opening Day
Yonny Chirinos will not be ready for Opening Day day after undergoing surgery for a fractured elbow in late September.

Advice: The 27-year-old was 13-months removed from Tommy John surgery before suffering a fractured elbow while throwing live batting practice in late September. The good news is that his repaired ulnar5 collateral ligament was not damaged. Tampa Bay hopes to have their right-hander back by late April or May if there are no further setbacks.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 2:22 pm

  • Sawamura (hamstring) could be removed from roster
Hirokazu Sawamura is dealing with right hamstring discomfort and could be removed from the Red Sox' ALCS roster.

Advice: Sawamura will throw prior to Friday's Game 6 and the team will make a determination on his status then. It's not clear who would take his spot. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 1:36 pm

  • Ryan Weber elects free agency
Ryan Weber has elected free agency.

Advice: The Mariners outrighted Weber off their 40-man roster and he's decided to look for a job elsewhere. Weber has a career 5.28 ERA over 63 appearances in parts of seven big league seasons. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 12:44 pm

  • Cardinals claim Ljay Newsome off waivers
Cardinals claimed RHP Ljay Newsome off waivers from the Mariners.

Advice: Newsome is working his way back from Tommy John surgery and likely won't be ready to pitch until at least midseason next year. When healthy, the 25-year-old's great control gives him a shot to be a back-end starter. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 12:42 pm

  • Darren McCaughan outrighted by Mariners
Mariners sent RHP Darren McCaughan outright to Triple-A Tacoma.

Advice: McCaughan got a cup of coffee with the Mariners this season but will now have to earn his way back onto the 40-man roster. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 12:31 pm

  • Justin Bruihl dealing with sore pitching arm
Justin Bruihl could be removed from the Dodgers' NLCS roster because of a sore pitching arm.

Advice: The left-hander felt some soreness in his arm while warming up in the bullpen during Thursday's Game 5. Manager Dave Roberts said the club will bring another pitcher with them to Atlanta in case Bruihl needs to be replaced, although he didn't specify who that was. Bruihl has made three scoreless appearances in the NLCS. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 11:14 am

David Price will take Joe Kelly's (biceps) spot on the Dodgers' NLCS roster.

Advice: Manager Dave Roberts hinted that Price would be the choice after Thursday's Game 5 and he made it official Friday. Kelly will miss the rest of the season with a strained biceps. Price was on the team's NLDS roster but didn't pitch. NBCSportsEDGE.com Today, 11:10 am

  • David Price likely to replace Kelly on NLCS roster
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters after Game 5 on Thursday that David Price is at the "top of the list" to replace Joe Kelly on the NLCS roster.

Advice: Roberts said that the team is considering a few players, but that Price was "on the top of the list." Price wasn't included on the NLCS roster to begin the series, but there will be an opener after the Dodgers remove Joe Kelly, who is going to miss the rest of the season with a right biceps strain. The left-hander should be available for an inning or two on Saturday.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:52 pm

  • Kelly will miss rest of season with biceps strain
Joe Kelly will miss the rest of the season with a biceps strain.

Advice: This according to Dave Roberts after the Game 5 win. Kelly was the opener on Thursday, and he went 2/3 of an inning while allowing a two-run homer to Freddie Freeman before he exited with a trainer on a 2-2 count to Adam Duvall. The right-hander has a $12 million club option for 2022 with a $4 million buyout, so it's very possible he's thrown his last pitch as a member of the Dodgers. Los Angeles will announce a replacement for him before Saturday's Game 6.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 9:39 pm

  • Kelly leaves in first inning with biceps injury
Joe Kelly has left Game 5 of the NLCS against the Braves on Thursday with a right biceps tightness.

Advice: It was originally announced that the injury was related to the shoulder, but the Dodgers clarified that it was tightness in the biceps. Kelly allowed a two-run homer to Freddie Freeman, but was able to get an out and then exited in the middle of an at-bat against Adam Duvall with a trainer. Evan Phillips has come in to replace the right-hander. If the Dodgers are able to win on Thursday, it seems likely that Kelly will need to be replaced on the roster.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 5:26 pm

  • Doyle sent outright to Triple-A by Rockies
Rockies sent RHP Tommy Doyle outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: Doyle was once considered one of the better relief prospects in baseball, but has seen his stock fall due to diminishing results; including a 9.84 ERA in 10 appearances for Double-A Hartford.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 2:26 pm

  • Rockies outright Almonte to Triple-A Albuquerque
Rockies outrighted RHP Yency Almonte to Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: Almonte is removed to clear room on the 40-man roster. The right-hander was an up-and-down option for the Rockies without fantasy significance, and isn't likely to have a role going forward.  NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 2:23 pm

  • Dodgers designate Edwin Uceta for assignment
Dodgers designated RHP Edwin Uceta for assignment.

Advice: This move opens up a spot for infielder Andy Burns, who is joining the Dodgers' NLCS roster in place of the injured Justin Turner. Uceta struggled to a 6.64 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and 25/12 K/BB ratio over his first 20 1/3 major league innings this season, but he is only 23 years old. NBCSportsEDGE.com Yesterday, 2:00 pm

  • Joe Kelly to serve as Dodgers' opener in Game 5
Joe Kelly will serve as the Dodgers' opener in NLCS Game 5 on Thursday night against the Braves.

Advice: Kelly has allowed just one run through 4 2/3 innings (six relief appearances) in these 2021 playoffs, but he's yet to throw more than 17 pitches in a single outing and will probably only be asked to cover top of the first on Thursday at Dodger Stadium.
