    • Marcus Semien homers in eighth to lead Rangers
Marcus Semien hit his fifth homer Friday as the Rangers bested the Reds 2-1.

Advice: Semien nearly had two homers, but his 410-foot drive to center in the fifth, which Statcast said would have been gone in 18 parks, was caught at the wall. The actual homer was hit 392 feet and broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth. It gave hm 19 runs scored and 20 RBI in 27 games, even though it doesn’t seem like either he or the Rangers offense as a whole has really caught fire yet. Rotoworld 54 minutes ago
    • Graham Ashcroft works into seventh in no-decision
Graham Ashcraft pitched 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball against the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Ashcraft allowed seven hits, but since he walked none, only the Evan Carter homer did damage. He has a 4.40 ERA after five starts, and he probably deserves better, what with his 26/7 K/BB and strong groundball rate. He’s a fringy mixed-league option, but he’s a big key as far as the Reds’ chances of contending this season. Rotoworld 54 minutes ago
    • Launches fifth homer
Muncy went 3-for-6 with a three-run homer and an additional run scored in Friday's 12-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Muncy broke the game open in the third inning with a three-run blast off Chirs Bassitt, extending the Dodgers' lead to 6-0. The 33-year-old Muncy is now 5-for-9 in his last two contests after going 0-for-10 in his previous four games. Overall, he's slashing .258/.361/.494 with five homers, 18 RBI and 16 runs scored through 26 games this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:32 pm
    • Dealing with hamstring spasms
Manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that Gallen was removed from his start against the Mariners due to spasms in his right hamstring, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Diamondbacks will continue to monitor Gallen's condition, but the expectation is that he will be fine and may not even have to miss his next start -- tentatively slated for Wednesday. The right-hander surrendered three earned runs across five-plus innings before exiting early in the sixth frame, giving him a 3.38 ERA through his first six starts. • Punches out 10 in win
Nola (4-1) allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk over eight innings Friday, striking out 10 and earning a win over the Padres.

Advice: Nola was terrific Friday, posting his first double-digit strikeout game since July 4, 2023. He threw 74 of 106 pitches for strikes and forced 14 whiffs in the victory. The veteran righty had yielded just one run through six frames before Graham Pauley's two-run shot in the seventh inning. Since coughing up six earned runs in his season debut, Nola has posted a stifling 1.29 ERA with a 33:10 K:BB over his last five starts (35 innings). He'll carry a 3.23 ERA into his next appearance, which is projected to be on the road against the Angels next week. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:28 pm
    • Kyle Schwarber homers, walks twice in blowout
Kyle Schwarber homered and walked twice against the Padres on Friday.

Advice: The Phillies connected on five homers in the blowout win, and Schwarber’s came as the leadoff hitter in the first. The 31-year-old has hit seven homers on the season, and he’ll likely be among the homer leaders throughout the 2024 campaign. Just keep in mind that the other categories will have their ups-and-downs, to put it nicely. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:28 pm
    • Aaron Nola whiffs 10 in victory over Padres
Aaron Nola picked up 10 strikeouts over eight innings of three-run baseball to get a win over the Padres on Friday.

Advice: Nola scattered seven hits allowed with one walk. The only real damage was a two-run homer by Graham Pauley, and that was in the seventh inning with the Padres trailing 9-1. Nola has now gone eight innings in back-to-back starts, and he’s posted a strong 3.20 ERA through the first month of the season. The Angels are next for the right-hander. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:28 pm
    • Rough night vs. LA
Bassitt (2-4) took the loss Friday against the Dodgers, allowing seven runs on nine hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Bassitt allowed a solo home run to Shohei Ohtani in the first inning before imploding in the third, where he allowed another six runs on six hits, with the big blow coming on a Max Muncy three-run homer. It's been a rocky start to the year for the 35-year-old Bassitt -- his ERA is up to 5.64 with a 1.85 WHIP and 30:17 K:BB across six starts (30.1 innings). He'll look to right the ship in his next outing, currently slated for next week against Kansas City. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:06 pm
    • Zac Gallen leaves start with hamstring tightness
Zac Gallen was pulled from Friday evening’s start against the Mariners mid at-bat in the sixth inning due to tightness in his right hamstring.

Advice: With as bad as it looked initially on the field, it’s actually encouraging that it’s not an elbow, shoulder or oblique issue that the 28-year-old right-hander is dealing with. The severity of the injury still isn’t known, but there’s a possibility that he may not even require a trip to the injured list. A lot will probably depend on how he wakes up feeling on Saturday, but for now fantasy managers and Diamondbacks’ fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:50 pm
