  • Teoscar Hernández delivers in 11th in Dodgers’ win
    Teoscar Hernández went 2-for-4 and doubled in two runs in the 11th to propel the Dodgers past the Yankees 2-1 on Friday.

    Advice: It was a scoreless game until Hernández delivered the contest’s first big hit off Ian Hamilton in the 11th. It actually gave him his first multi-RBI game since May 14.   • Westburg hits 10th home run in win Friday
    Jordan Westburg went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Rays on Friday.

    Advice: Westburg’s home run was his 10th of the season. He hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the Orioles a 6-3 lead.   • Homers in three-hit game Thursday
    Hernandez went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and three total runs scored in an 11-7 victory versus the Pirates on Thursday.

    Advice: Hernandez broke a 4-4 tie with a solo blast in the fifth inning, and Los Angeles never trailed again. The long ball snapped a 10-game stretch without a homer for the veteran outfielder, and after a hot start to the season, he's gone deep just twice over his past 23 contests.   • Struggles in abbreviated start
    Buehler didn't factor into the decision Thursday against Pittsburgh, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk over three innings. He struck out three.

    Advice: After needing 78 pitches to get through three frames, Buehler didn't come out for the fourth, marking the 29-year-old's shortest start of 2024. He surrendered a two-run home run to Nick Gonzales in the third inning, the right-hander's seventh long ball allowed in 28.0 innings. Buehler's been shaky since returning from Tommy John surgery, yielding exactly three runs in five of his six starts this season to fuel a 4.82 ERA.     Raleigh went 0-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run in a win over the Athletics on Thursday.

  • Big improvement over Wednesday
    Beeks picked up five outs for the Rockies in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Cardinals, striking out two while allowing no hits or walks between the eighth and ninth innings.

    Advice: This was a major improvement on Beeks' outing Wednesday, in which he allowed five earned runs and blew the save in a loss to the Reds. The negative news for Beeks managers, however, is that the Rockies brought in Tyler Kinley to get the final out and record the save Thursday. Beeks does lead the Rockies with six saves, but the team's closing situation is as muddled as it has been at any point this season.     De La Cruz went 1-for-5 with a three-run home run Thursday in an 8-4 victory against the Cubs.

    Advice: De La Cruz, on the one-year anniversary of his MLB debut, turned a two-run Reds deficit into a one-run lead with a three-run blast in the third frame. The long ball was his second in three contests following a season-long 21-game homer drought. After tallying 13 homers and 35 steals over 98 games as a rookie last season, De La Cruz is nearing those marks with 11 long balls and 32 thefts through 63 contests in 2024.   • Walker Buehler shaky in short outing vs. Pirates
    Walker Buehler was charged with four runs (three earned) over three innings on Thursday in a no-decision against the Pirates.

    Advice: Buehler was staked to a four-run lead before taking the mound at PNC Park, but it vanished by the third inning of this one as he was tagged for seven hits, including a two-run homer by Nick Gonzales. It wasn’t completely his fault as the Dodgers committed a pair of errors and weren’t able to make a couple catches on balls that ended up going for hits and drove up his pitch count in the process. He finished with three strikeouts and only issued one walk. The hard-throwing 29-year-old righty holds a lackluster 4.82 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 27/8 K/BB ratio across 28 innings (six starts). He hasn’t quite returned to fantasy ace status yet, but it’s still early considering how much time he’s missed since undergoing his second Tommy John surgery.
