    • Yanked early Friday
Lorenzen yielded two runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out one during the loss to the Giants.

Advice: Despite facing plenty of traffic on the basepaths, both runs allowed by Lorenzen were solo shots by Wilmer Flores. It was Lorenzen's shortest outing of the year and snapped his streak of four straight quality starts entering Friday. Since coughing up six runs against Oakland on May 8, he's registered a 1.50 ERA over his last five starts, lowering his season number to 3.05 through 59 innings. Lorenzen's next start is currently scheduled to be a road matchup with the Dodgers next week. Rotowire.com 12 minutes ago
    • Garrett Crochet fans 10 as White Sox snap skid
Garrett Crochet yielded two runs — one earned — and struck out 10 in six innings as the White Sox defeated the Red Sox 7-2 to snap a 14-game losing streak.

Advice: The White Sox’s previous win also, not coincidentally, came in a Crochet start on May 21. He has six of the White Sox’s 16 victories on the year. Crochet reached 10 strikeouts for the fourth time this season while allowing two runs or fewer for the eighth straight start. He’s due to face the Mariners next. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

    • On track to return next week
Diaz (shoulder) said after his rehab appearance with High-A Brooklyn on Thursday that he will get one more rehab outing Sunday before being activated from the 15-day injured list on Wednesday or Thursday, SNY reports.

Advice: Diaz allowed one hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning for Brooklyn in his first rehab appearance. The reliever was pleased with his performance, saying after the game that his fastball had "new life" and his slider felt "great." Diaz is on track to return to the Mets' bullpen next week, although it's not clear whether he will serve as the team's closer right away. Rotowire.com Today, 8:11 am

    • Edwin Díaz strikes out two in rehab appearance
Edwin Díaz (shoulder) struck out two in a scoreless inning on Thursday in a minor league rehab appearance for High-A Brooklyn.

Advice: Díaz threw 14 pitches (11 strikes) and was reportedly touching 98 mph on his heater in his first rehab outing as he works his way back from a right shoulder impingement that sent him to the injured list back in late May. The 30-year-old righty figures to take over as New York’s primary closing option once he returns, despite his struggles this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:32 pm

    • Beginning rehab assignment
Diaz (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Brooklyn on Thursday.

Advice: Diaz threw a successful bullpen session Tuesday and has now been cleared to test things out in a game setting. He is eligible for activation from the 15-day injured list on June 11 when the Mets return home from London. Barring a setback, Diaz should be ready to go that day. Whether he is used as the closer right away upon his return is unclear, as Diaz's struggles prior to getting hurt had led to him sharing save chances with others. • Dazzles in win
Montas (3-4) allowed one hit and two walks while striking out nine over seven scoreless innings to earn the win over the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: Montas navigated Coors Field with ease in his best start of the year. This was his third scoreless outing, though one of those was shortened by a forearm injury versus the Angels on April 21. The right-hander had been struggling to rack up strikeouts prior to Tuesday -- his previous season high was seven. Montas is at a decent 4.00 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 42:20 K:BB over 54 innings across 11 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Cubs. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:14 pm

    • Frankie Montas limits Rockies to one hit in win
Frankie Montas allowed only one hit over seven innings and struck out nine Tuesday in the Reds’ 4-1 defeat of the Rockies.

Advice: The seven innings and nine strikeouts were both season highs for Montas, who lowered his ERA from 4.60 to 4.00 in earning his first win since Apr. 3. A victory against the Rockies isn’t enough to warrant a mixed-league pickup, but it was encouraging to see Montas’s velocity up a bit tonight. He generated 20 missed swings on his 96 pitches. • Throws bullpen session
Diaz (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Advice: Diaz threw 21 pitches during his mound session, and manager Carlos Mendoza said afterward that there is a good chance the 30-year-old reliever begins a rehab assignment in the minors Thursday. It's unclear how many minor-league reps the Mets will give their star closer, but the fact Diaz is already able to begin an assignment likely signals that he will only require a minimum-length stint on the IL. • Edwin Díaz to start rehab assignment this week
Edwin Díaz (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday.

Advice: Díaz threw a bullpen session on Tuesday without any issues and the Mets are hoping to have one of their primary closing options back on June 11, when first eligible to return. The electrifying 30-year-old righty hit the injured list back in late May with a right shoulder impingement. He’s struggled this season, but remains arguably the best option for New York manager Carlos Mendoza moving forward over Adam Ottavino, Jake Diekman and Reed Garrett. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:23 pm
