    • Has positive follow-up exam
Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) had a follow-up exam with Reds doctors Wednesday, and he was cleared to take the next step in his rehab, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: While that would seem to be good news for Encarnacion-Strand, who was diagnosed with a right ulnar styloid fracture May 8, he opted to get a second opinion, putting his rehab on hold for the moment. At the time of his diagnosis, Encarnacion-Strand was given a four-to-six week recovery timeline. Rotowire.com Today, 4:51 am
    • CES (wrist) set to resume baseball activities
Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand has been on the shelf since early May due to a right wrist fracture. The biggest question for fantasy managers moving forward is whether his prodigious over-the-fence power will be adversely impacted. The 24-year-old slugger is going to need several weeks to ramp back up fully prior to returning to Cincinnati, but it’s possible he’s back before next month’s All-Star break. • On bench with lefty starting
Raley is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Advice: Raley will join fellow lefty-hitting regulars Dominic Canzone and Josh Rojas on the bench while the Athletics send southpaw JP Sears to the bump. Victor Robles will open the game in Raley's usual spot in left field in what will be the former's first start with the Mariners since he signed with the team Tuesday after being released by the Nationals. • Wilmer Flores homers, plates five in blowout win
Wilmer Flores went 2-for-5 with a grand slam and five RBI on Wednesday in the Giants’ lopsided win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Flores played a pivotal role in San Francisco’s unexpected six-run explosion against Arizona starter Jordan Montgomery in the third inning of this one, walloping a grand slam to left field for his second big fly of the season. It was the first time he’s gone deep since May 4. He also picked up an additional RBI in the late stages of the contest with a ninth-inning sacrifice fly. Rotoworld Wednesday, 5:13 pm

    • Drives in five in win
Flores went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and five RBI in Wednesday's 9-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The Giants launched three homers on the day, but Flores' grand slam off Jordan Montgomery in the third inning proved to be the biggest blow. Flores snapped a 21-game homer drought with the blast, but that May 4 shot was his only other homer on the season. The 32-year-old's five RBI on Wednesday equaled his total from his prior 26 games combined. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 4:45 pm

    • Starting again, but stuck in platoon
Flores will start at first base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Flores is starting at first base for the fourth time in five games, but all but one of those starts have come against left-handed pitchers. Even with top first baseman LaMonte Wade (hamstring) on the injured list, Flores looks as though he'll remain in the short side of a platoon while recent call-up Trenton Brooks gets the opportunity to make regular starts at the position versus righties. • Rejoins starting nine
Donovan (neck) will start in left field and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Donovan is back in action Monday after a stiff neck kept him out of the entirety of the Cardinals' three-game series with the Phillies over the weekend. The 27-year-old had been serving as the Cardinals' leadoff man against right-handed pitching prior to suffering the neck injury, but Donovan may have lost that role to Masyn Winn. The second-year shortstop will bat atop the order in the series opener in Houston while Donovan drops to sixth against Astros righty Justin Verlander. Rotowire.com Monday, 3:10 pm

    • Brendan Donovan returns to Cards’ lineup on Monday
Brendan Donovan (neck) returned to the Cardinals’ starting lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Astros.

Advice: Donovan missed the club’s entire weekend series against the Phillies due to stiffness in his neck. He’ll start in left field and bat sixth for the Cardinals against Astros’ right-hander Justin Verlander on Monday evening in Houston. He returns to a .245/.326/.382 slash line with four homers and 25 RBI through his first 233 plate appearances on the season. Rotoworld Monday, 12:52 pm

    • Productive weekend series
Diaz went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI on Sunday against the Orioles.

Advice: Diaz had a strong weekend series thanks to some timely hits. Across the three games, he went just 3-for-11 but drove in four runs and also worked two free passes. Diaz has gone just 7-for-44 across his last 13 starts, though he's striking out at only a 10.6 percent clip in that span, meaning his numbers should start to tick back up.
