      Kodai Senga (shoulder) threw around 30 pitches in a successful two-inning bullpen session on Saturday.

      Advice: He’ll throw another bullpen early next week and if all goes well with that session, it sounds like Senga will finally be cleared to face live hitters. He’s still going to need several minor league rehab starts before he’s an option to join the Mets’ rotation, but he’s at least taking small steps in the right direction. Rotoworld Today, 2:01 pm

    • Tosses bullpen session
      Senga (shoulder/triceps) threw a two-inning bullpen session Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

      Advice: Senga was able to throw more than 30 pitches in the session and he's expected to throw a shorter one next week. The right-hander has been slowly working his way back from a posterior right capsule strain and then a subsequent triceps injury and he's yet to make his season debut. Senga has already been ruled out for the first half of the season, but if he can build off of Saturday's session next week, he'll remain on track to return relatively soon following the All-Star break.       Clase struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his 21st save of the season in a 3-1 win over the Blue Jays.

      Advice: After catching Vladimir Guerrero looking on a third strike, Clase coaxed routine groundballs from Bo Bichette and Justin Turner to end the game. The right-hander has converted eight straight save chances, posting a 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 11:1 K:BB through 10 innings over that stretch, and Clase sits two back of the Cardinals' Ryan Helsley for the major-league saves lead.       Emmanuel Clase pitched a perfect ninth against the Blue Jays for his 21st save Friday.

      Advice: Clase gave up single runs in his previous two appearances, but the Blue Jays didn’t threaten tonight. He had particularly good velocity in this one, averaging 100.9 mph with his cutter. That’s up 1.9 mph from his season mark. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:13 pm

      Pfaadt (3-5) earned the win over the Angels on Thursday, allowing one run on six hits and three walks over six innings while striking out eight.

      Advice: Pfaadt allowed the leadoff man to reach base in two of his first three innings, but escaped unscathed via double plays on each occasion. He would then surrender an RBI single to Mickey Moniak in the fourth before going on to log his seventh quality start of the campaign. The right-hander has allowed two or fewer runs in three of his last six outings, going 2-2 over that stretch. Pfaadt's also recorded at least seven strikeouts in four of his last six starts.       Ryan (5-5) earned the win over Oakland on Thursday, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out five batters over seven innings.

      Advice: Ryan surrendered a two-run homer to Tyler Soderstrom in the second inning, but those were the only runs the A's managed against the righty hurler. Ryan finished with a stat line very similar to his previous outing, when he gave up two runs on three hits over seven frames versus Pittsburgh, though that performance came in a losing effort.     • Brandon Pfaadt strikes out eight, allows one run
      Brandon Pfaadt struck out eight while limiting the Angels to one run in six innings to get a win Thursday.

      Advice: Pfaadt did have some control issues with three walks and 62-of-108 pitches landing for strikes, but he was able to work out of jams thanks to the punchouts. It’s a much improved effort from last weekend when he gave up nine hits and five runs against San Diego. Pfaadt has shown almost zero consistency in his MLB career — at least not in a positive way — but the stuff is here for him to be a successful fantasy option.     • Logs another quality start in win
      Houck (7-5) earned the win against the Phillies on Thursday, allowing three runs on eight hits and no walks with five strikeouts over six innings.

      Advice: He tossed three scoreless innings then loaded the bases and surrendered a three-run double to Kyle Schwarber in a rough fourth. Houck rebounded with two more scoreless frames to earn his fifth straight quality start and received plenty of offensive support, as the Red Sox tagged Aaron Nola for eight runs. Houck has now allowed three or fewer earned runs in 13 of 14 starts and has been one of baseball's biggest breakouts so far in 2024. On the season, he owns a 2.08 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 89:15 K:BB in 91 innings. Houck lines up to start next week against the Blue Jays. Rotowire.com Thursday, 7:40 pm
       
    • Ryan picks up fifth win against A’s Thursday
      Joe Ryan allowed two runs in seven innings and got the win in the Twins’ 6-2 victory over the Athletics on Thursday.

      Advice: Ryan gave up three hits, walked one and struck out five. The win was his fifth of the year. Both of the runs for Oakland came on a Tyler Soderstrom two-run home run in the second inning. Ryan hung a splitter to Soderstrom, but it was basically the only mistake he made on the night. It was Ryan’s 10th quality start of the season. His ERA is now 3.24 on the year. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rays at home next week.
