    • Bell: CES (wrist) to resume swinging this month
Reds manager David Bell told reporters Saturday that Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) is expected to start swinging a bat in a few weeks.

Advice: Bell added that Encarnacion-Strand will ramp-up his strength training next week and should be cleared to begin hitting again at some point in June. The 24-year-old slugger has been out since early May recovering from a right wrist fracture. It’s starting to look like he won’t return until sometime after next month’s All-Star break. • Goes deep in win
Vaughn went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two runs scored in Friday's win over Boston.

Advice: Vaughn singled and scored in the fourth inning before knocking a solo blast in the sixth. After a 36-game homerless drought to begin the year, he's gone deep six times over his last 22 appearances, including two straight games. During that span, he's boosted his season OPS from .507 to .633 through 237 total plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:53 pm

    • Has positive follow-up exam
Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) had a follow-up exam with Reds doctors Wednesday, and he was cleared to take the next step in his rehab, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: While that would seem to be good news for Encarnacion-Strand, who was diagnosed with a right ulnar styloid fracture May 8, he opted to get a second opinion, putting his rehab on hold for the moment. At the time of his diagnosis, Encarnacion-Strand was given a four-to-six week recovery timeline. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:51 am
    • Smacks homer in loss
Vaughn went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 14-2 loss to the Red Sox.

Advice: Vaughn has hit safely in his last six games, going 8-for-23 (.348) in that span. He dealt with a sprained left ring finger to begin June, but it hasn't slowed him down since he was cleared to return. The first baseman is up to five homers on the year with 20 RBI, 17 runs scored, one stolen base and a .211/.275/.338 slash line through 233 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Thursday, 9:36 pm

    • CES (wrist) set to resume baseball activities
Christian Encarnacion-Strand (wrist) has been cleared to resume baseball activities.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand has been on the shelf since early May due to a right wrist fracture. The biggest question for fantasy managers moving forward is whether his prodigious over-the-fence power will be adversely impacted. The 24-year-old slugger is going to need several weeks to ramp back up fully prior to returning to Cincinnati, but it’s possible he’s back before next month’s All-Star break. • Back in action
Vaughn (finger) will start at first base and bat second in Tuesday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: Vaughn sprained his left ring finger over the weekend and missed the entirety of the White Sox's three-game series with the Brewers. However, after a team day off Monday, Vaughn will return to the White Sox lineup in time for the start of its series with the North Siders. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:08 pm

    • Andrew Vaughn back in lineup Tuesday vs. Cubs
Andrew Vaughn (finger) is back in the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Cubs.

Advice: Vaughn is back at first base on Tuesday night after missing three straight games due to left finger sprain. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward. Rotoworld Tuesday, 1:02 pm

    • Out Sunday with finger injury
Vaughn (finger) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Advice: Vaughn will be on the bench for a third game in a row with a sprained left ring finger. The White Sox continue to view Vaughn as day-to-day, and with a team off day Monday, Vaughn could be ready to go for the start of the team's two-game series with the Cubs on Tuesday. Gavin Sheets will fill in at first base for Vaughn on Sunday. Rotowire.com Sunday, 11:16 am

    • Nursing injured finger
Vaughn is dealing with a sprained left ring finger, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Vaughn was set to be absent from Chicago's starting lineup again Saturday and manager Pedro Grifol announced that the 26-year-old is dealing with the finger injury. Grifol said Vaughn will miss 3-to-5 days, with Saturday's contest being the third. Rotowire.com Saturday, 11:48 am
