    • Jose Miranda drives in three in win vs. D-Backs
Jose Miranda went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI, and a run scored in the Twins’ 8-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Advice: With the bases loaded in the second inning, Miranda put the Twins on top with a bases-clearing double off of Ryne Nelson to bring in three runs. He knocked a base hit in the third, then doubled once again in the fifth before scoring on a home run by Willi Castro. Miranda walked in the ninth to reach for the fourth time. The 25-year-old third baseman is slashing .293/.339/.495 with eight homers and 33 RBI across 224 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:24 pm

    • Maikel Garcia goes 0-for-4 out of leadoff spot
Maikel Garcia went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts on Wednesday in the Royals’ win over the Marlins.

Advice: Yikes. Garcia’s latest hitless effort leaves him with a .174 (21-for-121) batting average with zero homers and six steals over his last 30 games. It’s fair to wonder how much longer Kansas City can afford to stick with him anywhere near the top of their lineup moving forward. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:24 pm

    • Mulling rehab assignment
Rendon (hamstring) said Wednesday that he's "definitely close" and is still deciding whether to go out on a rehab assignment, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: A rehab assignment would be sensible, considering he's missed two months of action with a high-grade partial tear of his left hamstring. Rendon said that he's open to the possibility of playing rehab games before coming off the 60-day injured list, though the Angels can't force him to do so. Either way, the veteran third baseman should be clear to play in games soon if he's able to sprint on consecutive days without issue. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 11:13 am

    • Anthony Rendon (hamstring) close to game-ready
Anthony Rendon thinks he’s close to returning from a partially torn left hamstring.

Advice: Fortunately, Rendon is open to going on a rehab assignment, though he doesn’t seem to think he really needs one. Considering that he’s missed more than two months and was hardly tearing it up before getting hurt (.267/.325/.307 in 19 games), it would be for the best if he spent a few days in the minors. • Not in Wednesday's lineup
Polanco is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Tampa Bay.

Advice: Polanco played the first two games of the series upon his return from the injured list, going 1-for-8 with one run scored and four strikeouts. He'll receive a breather Wednesday as Dylan Moore fills in at second base. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:20 am

    • Nabs two bags in loss
Garcia went 0-for-2 with two steals, two walks and one run scored in Tuesday's loss to the Marlins.

Advice: Garcia drew a second consecutive start at the keystone and stole two bases in the first inning after leading off with a walk. The 24-year-old has struggled mightily in June, as he entered the contest slashing .145/.211/.169 with no homers and four steals across 90 plate appearances. The Kansas City infield became more crowded with CJ Alexander debuting and Michael Massey (back) returning from the injured list Monday (though Massey will serve as DH for now), so Garcia will have to start producing at the plate and on the basepaths to maintain a starting role. • Anthony Rendon (hamstring) set to resume hitting
Anthony Rendon (hamstring) will get live at-bats later this week.

Advice: Angels manager Ron Washington told reporters Rendon is making progress and should be able to resume live at-bats later this week. He’s been out since late April recovering from a partially-torn hamstring and appears to be inching closer to a rehab assignment. Rotoworld Tuesday, 4:07 pm

    • Progressing toward live swings
Rendon (hamstring) is expected to start facing live pitching by this weekend, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: The veteran third baseman started up baseball activities in early June and is nearing full baseball activities as he continues to work his way back from a strained left hamstring. Rendon will likely require a minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining the Angels, so a return shouldn't be expected in the immediate future. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 4:07 pm

    • Getting day off Tuesday
Miranda is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: After making four consecutive starts, Miranda will get a breather for Tuesday's series opener in Arizona. Royce Lewis will handle third base duties while Trevor Larnach starts at DH. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:03 pm
