    • Lands on injured list
Soriano was placed on the 15-day injured list with an abdomen infection Thursday.

Advice: Soriano was scratched from his start Monday and was expected to miss another turn through the rotation. It was originally anticipated that he would avoid the injured list, so it's unclear how long he may be sidelined. The move was retroactive to Monday, so Soriano will be eligible to return in early July. Rotowire.com 22 minutes ago
    • Earns eighth win
Allen (8-3) earned the win Thursday against the Mariners, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks across six innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Allen did not start off well, allowing a leadoff single to JP Crawford followed by a homer to Dylan Moore but allowed just one more run the rest of the way to earn his eighth win and complete his fifth quality start of the season. Allen, who also hit a batter on the day, continues to struggle with missing bats, having struck out just eight batters over the last three starts spanning 17 innings after having struck out 51 across 58.2 innings during his first 12 outings. Despite the dearth of strikeouts during this most recent stretch, Allen's ERA stands at 3.17 over the last three games as opposed to 5.83 during the 12 games prior. Things will not get easier for his next start as he's currently scheduled to take on the Orioles in Baltimore. Rotowire.com 29 minutes ago

    • Angels put José Soriano (infection) on 15-day IL
Angels placed RHP José Soriano on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 17, with an abdominal infection.

Advice: So much for Angels manager Ron Washington’s proclamation that Soriano wouldn’t need a trip to the injured list. The 25-year-old righty was scratched from a scheduled start earlier this week due to abdominal pain and will require a couple weeks off to deal with an abdominal infection. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days. It’s an unfortunate development for fantasy managers as he was set to face the Athletics early next week. Rotoworld 39 minutes ago
    • Elects for surgery
Gasser will have surgery Monday to repair UCL damage in his left elbow, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: It's unclear whether Gasser is undergoing Tommy John surgery or the internal brace procedure, but he will be out for at least the next 12 months. It's tough timing for the promising young pitcher, as he had pitched well across his first five big-league starts, maintaining a 2.57 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 28 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 4:10 pm
    • Robert Gasser to undergo elbow surgery next week
Robert Gasser will undergo season-ending left elbow surgery on Monday.

Advice: The expectation all along was that Gasser was probably finished for the year, but the fact that he’s elected to undergo surgery — either a full Tommy John or less invasive internal brace procedure (A.K.A. the Seth Maness procedure) — following multiple medical opinions means he’ll miss at least the first half of the 2025 campaign as well. It’s a significant loss for Milwaukee’s starting pitching depth as he was just starting to establish himself at the highest level. There should be an exact timetable following next week’s procedure. • Struggles through five
Gore (6-6) suffered the loss Thursday, allowing four runs on 10 hits and two walks in five innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out seven.

Advice: Gore was unable to match his opponent's efficiency on the mound, allowing 12 baserunners and needing 103 pitches to complete five frames. The Diamondbacks meanwhile needed only 87 pitches for the entirety of the contest including just 70 in seven innings by starter Ryne Nelson. Gore was done in by a lot of dink and dunk as nine of the 10 hits he allowed were singles. It was just the second time all season Gore has allowed more than three runs and was the fifth time he's eclipsed the 100-pitch plateau. The performance raised Gore's ERA from 3.24 to 3.49 while his WHIP lifted from 1.32 to 1.39. His next opportunity to toe the rubber is set for early next week when the Nationals travel to San Diego to take on the Padres. Rotowire.com Today, 4:05 pm

    • Stratton picks up fourth save Thursday
Chris Stratton picked up the save against the Athletics on Thursday.

Advice: Stratton’s save was his fourth of the year. James McArthur is still in the late inning mix for the Royals, but he entered in the seventh inning of a tie game. McArthur has only one save this month, but has finished four games. Rotoworld Today, 3:50 pm
    • Spence allows two runs in no-decision Thursday
Mitch Spence allowed two runs in six innings and got a no-decision against the Royals on Thursday.

Advice: Spence gave up six hits, walked one and struck out seven. Both of the runs he allowed came on solo home runs by Freddy Fermin. Spence has a 3.86 ERA and SO:BB of 50:15 in seven starts this year. The 26-year-old right-hander is set to face the Angels on the road.

    • Landon Knack starting Friday against Angels
Landon Knack will start on Friday against the Angels.

Advice: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed to reporters following Thursday’s win over the Rockies that Knack will get the ball to kick off the Freeway Series against the Angels. The 26-year-old righty draws the starting assignment in place of an injured Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He’s posted a respectable 2.61 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 16/6 K/BB ratio across 20 2/3 innings (four starts) this season in the majors. He figures to get some extended run with both Yamamoto and Walker Buehler on the shelf for an extended period. There’s definitely some streaming appeal here for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Today, 3:28 pm
