    • Launches homer in win
Henderson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Henderson regained a share of the major-league lead with his 12th homer of the campaign, putting him in a tie with Atlanta's Marcell Ozuna and Houston's Kyle Tucker. While he's hit two homers over the last three games, Henderson has just three multi-hit efforts in May, a month that's seen him go 8-for-34 (.235) over nine contests. It's little to be concerned about considering how well he's played overall -- he has a .278/.355/.583 slash line with 27 RBI, 30 runs scored and six stolen bases over 38 games. Henderson's in little risk of losing his place as the Orioles' starting shortstop and leadoff hitter. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:51 pm

    • Fans seven in MLB debut
Skenes came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 10-9 win over the Cubs, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over four-plus innings. He struck out seven.

Advice: The 21-year-old right-hander displayed some nerves in his big-league debut, throwing only 54 of 84 pitches for strikes, but he flashed his upside right out of the gate by hitting triple digits on the radar gun on his first two career pitches and reaching 100 mph on five fastballs in total against the first batter he faced, eventually striking out Chicago leadoff man Mike Tauchman on a 100.9 mph four-seamer. Skenes isn't heading back to the minors any time soon, and his next start should come on the road next week in a rematch with the Cubs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:25 pm

    • Strikes out eight in quality start
Peralta allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Peralta threw 71 of 100 pitches for strikes in his return from a five-game suspension. The right-hander earned his first quality start in four outings and his fourth of the year, though he's yet to pitch past the sixth inning this season. He's at a solid 3.63 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP and 58:16 K:BB over 44.2 innings through eight starts. Peralta's next start is projected to be on the road in Houston. • Improves to 5-0
Skubal (5-0) earned the win over Houston on Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings.

Advice: Skubal continued his run of excellence, recording his fifth straight quality start and picking up his fifth win without a loss on the season. The left-hander has built upon last year's breakout campaign to emerge as one of MLB's top hurlers and Detroit's undeniable staff ace. Skubal ranks seventh among qualified starters with a 2.02 ERA and fourth with a 0.86 WHIP. He's tied for fourth with 60 punchouts over 49 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:02 pm

    • Paul Skenes strikes out seven in MLB debut
Paul Skenes gave up three runs over four-plus innings with seven strikeouts in a no-decision against the Cubs on Saturday.

Advice: Skenes allowed six hits while issuing two walks and throwing 54-of-84 pitches for strikes. Of those 84 offerings, 17 of them were clocked above 100 mph. The top pitching prospect in baseball held the Cubs scoreless for the first three innings, but he allowed a solo homer in the fourth to Nico Hoerner, and two more runs were charged to the 21-year-old in the fifth after he left without recording an out in that inning. A bit of a disappointing result, but anyone who watched Skenes pitch Saturday saw the makings of a frontline starter. He’ll face the Cubs again in Chicago on Thursday. • Tarik Skubal fans seven in victory over Astros
Tarik Skubal delivered another strong performance in Saturday’s victory over the Astros, striking out seven batters over 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball.

Advice: The Tigers’ ace allowed seven hits and a pair of walks on the evening. The only damage done against him came in the fourth inning, on run-scoring singles by Alex Bregman and Yainer Diaz. Aside from that, Skubal was in complete control. The flame-throwing 27-year-old southpaw generated 15 swings and misses on 97 pitches on the night — six on his changeup — while posting a strong CSW of 34 percent. He has been as good as advertised this season, posting a 5-0 record, 2.02 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and a 60/8 K/BB ratio across 49 innings through his first eight starts. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he squares off against the Diamondbacks in Arizona on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:53 pm

    • Gunnar Henderson homer helps O’s top D-Backs
Gunnar Henderson homered in a victory over the Diamondbacks on Saturday in 11 innings.

Advice: Henderson hit a solo blast of Ryne Nelson in the fifth inning. That’s the 12th homer for the second-year shortstop, and he’s driven in 27 runs over the Orioles’ first 37 games of the year. Henderson has played at a star level for much of 2024, and there’s plenty of reason to believe there’ll be way more good than bad for the infielder for the rest of the season and beyond. • Evan Carter scratched Saturday with back stiffness
Evan Carter was scratched from the Rangers’ starting lineup on Saturday due to stiffness in his lower back.

Advice: He probably sustained the injury sitting on the bench three times during the week against left-handers instead of actually being on the field. The Rangers are going to take every possible precaution here, so it’s possible that he’ll be held out of Sunday’s lineup as well — causing him to miss the entire three-game weekend set against the Rockies. • Dealing with stiff back
Carter is sitting Saturday against the Rockies due to lower-back stiffness, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Advice: Carter has a history of lower-back issues, so the Rangers are acting cautiously, per Grant. Travis Jankowski is getting the start in left field and batting seventh. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:25 pm
