      Sonny Gray was torched for six runs over five innings on Thursday in a loss to the Brewers.

      Advice: Gray was tagged for a season-high three round-trippers in this one after allowing just one long ball in his previous five starts combined. The dismal outing also snapped a five-start streak in which he allowed two earned runs or fewer to kick off his Cardinals debut. The only positives here were that he struck out six and only issued one walk.       Greene did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Diamondbacks, allowing three runs on four hits and five walks over five innings. He struck out six.

      Advice: Greene's final line ultimately could've looked a lot worse after he issued a season-high five walks. The 24-year-old Greene has given up nine free passes over his last two starts (10.2 innings), though he's managed to hold opponents to just three runs in that span. Overall, he's 1-2 on the season with a 1.24 WHIP and 53:21 K:BB through eight starts (45.1 innings). Greene's currently slated for a rematch with the Diamondbacks on the road in his next outing.       Corbin Carroll knocked in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning Thursday to help the D-Backs to a 5-4 win over the Reds.

      Advice: In what has been a very disappointing season for Carroll, the 23-year-old came up big Thursday with an RBI single to score Tucker Barnhart that broke a 4-4 tie and ultimately gave Arizona the victory. The 23-year-old was one of the best fantasy players regardless of age, and while his .206/.300/.270 slash is anything but ideal, there’s obvious reasons to believe he’ll bounce back considerably in the summer months.       Slade Cecconi held the Reds to one run Thursday while working 5 1/3 innings, but didn’t factor into the decision.

      Advice: Cecconi allowed three hits, and he walked two against two strikeouts. The right-hander’s only run allowed came on a Jeimer Candelario homer in the fifth inning, and outside of that he didn’t deal with much traffic. The 24-year-old lowers his ERA to 4.15 with the strong — if not always spectacular — outing, and he’ll have a rematch with the Reds next week, assuming Arizona doesn’t make changes to the rotation.
