    • Héctor Neris strikes out two, earns win vs. Pirates
Héctor Neris tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts to fall in line for the win over the Pirates on Saturday.

Advice: Neris hasn’t had many clean outings this season. This one came at an opportune time. With the game scoreless into the ninth, he took the mound and struck out two in a perfect inning to send it to the bottom of the frame. The Cubs would walk it off, giving Neris his fourth win of the season to go with six saves. Rotoworld Today, 1:36 pm

    • Juan Soto homers twice, Yankees crush White Sox
Juan Soto went 4-for-4 with two homers and three RBI to power the Yankees to a 6-1 win over the White Sox on Saturday.

Advice: Soto blasted a solo homer in the first inning to put the Yankees on the board, his tenth of the season. He drove in another run with a single in the second, then went yard once again to lead off the fifth. A base hit in the eighth would make it a perfect day at the plate. It was the first multi-homer game for Soto as a member of the Yankees. The 25-year-old star outfielder is slashing .317/.414/.561 with 11 homers, 32 runs scored, 37 RBI, and four steals across 215 plate appearances. Rotoworld Today, 12:45 pm

    • Notches fifth hold
Matsui earned a hold against Atlanta on Friday, walking one batter and striking out two over two-thirds of an inning.

Advice: Matsui was called upon with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning with the trying run at the plate, and he struck out Michael Harris II to end the frame. The lefty reliever then struck out Orlando Arcia to begin the seventh before walking Adam Duvall, which got him the hook. Interestingly, usual closer Robert Suarez was deployed in a high-leverage spot in the eighth frame Friday, but Matsui -- who was expected to compete for the ninth-inning role after working mostly as a closer during his 10-year career in Japan -- wasn't available to close since he had already been used. If Suarez (who has been excellent this season) sees more work before the ninth, it's possible Matsui could get an occasional save chance, though he's struggled in May, allowing four runs on five hits while posting a 6:6 K:BB over 4.2 innings covering six appearances. • Dazzles in first win of season
Luzardo (1-3) picked up the win Friday, allowing five hits over six scoreless innings in an 8-0 victory over the Mets. He struck out seven without walking a batter.

Advice: After a couple first-inning hits got Francisco Lindor to second base, Luzardo locked in and retired 11 straight batters. All five hits off the southpaw were singles, and he fired 59 of 89 pitches for strikes in his second quality start of the year. After a bumpy first few weeks to the season and then an IL stint, Luzardo appears to be back in form, delivering a 15:1 K:BB in 11.2 innings over two starts since rejoining the rotation. He'll carry a 5.02 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 42:14 K:BB through 37.2 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Brewers. Rotowire.com Today, 7:53 am
    • Masyn Winn collects first homer of 2024
Masyn Winn’s first homer of the season with was a two-run shot off Boston’s Cam Booser in Friday’s win.

Advice: Winn hit the ball 402 feet, which was far and away his longest drive of the season. He previously had a 379-foot double off Sean Manaya, but he hadn’t hit anything else over 350 feet in 142 plate appearances. Winn has been perfectly solid in batting .280/.343/.384 this year, but his profile doesn’t suggest that he’ll be hitting many more homers in his first full season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:52 pm

    • Logs three hits, steal in win
Chapman went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a hit-by-pitch, an RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored in Friday's 10-5 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Chapman has gone 9-for-32 (.281) over his last eight games as he finally seems to be finding a rhythm at the plate. He got the Giants on the board with an RBI double in the first inning and continued to be involved in the team's subsequent rallies. The third baseman is slashing .218/.273/.362 with five home runs, 10 doubles, 20 RBI, 25 runs scored and four steals through 187 plate appearances this season. While his rate stats are well below his usual standards, the recent improvements are a reason for optimism, especially as he continues to hit in the heart of the order for a lineup devastated by injuries. • Matt Chapman doubles twice, scores three runs
Matt Chapman doubled twice and scored three runs while driving in one in a win over the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: Chapman has gone through it for most of the 2024 season, but things have looked better — for the most part — the past week. The infielder is only hitting .218 over the first six weeks of the campaign, but this has been a streaky hitter for the majority of the campaign, and it’s certainly possible he’s entering a hot run right now. • Hits first homer of season
Winn went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 10-6 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Winn has done a lot of things right this season, but he didn't have a homer until he took Boston reliever Cam Booser deep in the sixth inning. The shortstop has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, going 11-for-34 (.324) in that span. Winn is up to a .280/.343/.384 slash line with 10 RBI, 12 runs scored, seven stolen bases, six doubles and three triples through 142 plate appearances in an everyday role. • Jesús Luzardo strikes out seven, earns win
Jesús Luzardo completed six innings in the Marlins 8-0 win over the Mets on Friday. He struck out seven, walked none, and allowed seven hits.

Advice: Luzardo has been fantastic since returning from the IL, striking out 15 in 11 ⅔ innings across two starts putting a rough start to the season behind him. However, be advised his fastball averaged just 94.7 MPH Friday. That was his lowest mark in a single start this season and after he’s already spent time on the shelf with elbow tightness.
