  • Héctor Neris gives up homer, earns save anyway
    Héctor Neris picked up his 10th save despite giving up a solo homer in the ninth Wednesday against the Rays.

    Advice: The Cubs got Neris right back in there after he gave up four runs in taking a blown save and a loss Tuesday, and he got the job done, though not before allowing a homer for the second straight night.   • Struggles in third rehab start
    Silseth (elbow) struck out three and gave up six earned runs on four hits and five walks over 2.2 innings Tuesday in his rehab start with Triple-A Salt Lake.

    Advice: Silseth struck out 10 over seven shutout innings between his first two rehab outings in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, but he struggled with both his control and command Tuesday while shifting his rehab to a higher-level affiliate. The Angels had hoped that he would build up to about five innings in Tuesday's rehab outing, but he fell well short of that benchmark, even though he pushed up his pitch count to 71 (35 strikes) after tossing 56 pitches in his prior outing in the ACL. Though Silseth could be a candidate to return from the 60-day injured list to rejoin the big-league rotation as soon as Sunday in San Francisco, the Angels may prefer to have him make one more start in the minors to iron out his control.     Rangers activated LHP Brock Burke from the 60-day injured list.

    Advice: The 27-year-old southpaw has been shelved since mid-April when he broke his right hand while punching a wall in the Rangers’ clubhouse.     Rangers optioned RHP Grant Anderson to Triple-A Round Rock.

    Advice: The Rangers needed to free up a spot on their active roster for the return of Brock Burke on Wednesday and it looks like Anderson was the odd-man out this time around.     The Rangers optioned Anderson to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

    Advice: Anderson hasn't found much success in the majors since joining the Rangers in May, posting a 9.53 ERA and 1.76 WHIP through 17 innings.     The Rangers reinstated Burke (hand) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

    Advice: Burke has been on the injured list since mid-April with a broken right (non-throwing) hand. He began a rehab assignment May 16, posting a 2.45 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through 11 innings across nine appearances -- seven of which came in Triple-A.   • Hogan Harris whiffs five on Wednesday in no-decision
    Hogan Harris allowed two runs over five innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Padres.

    Advice: Harris was burned by the long ball in this one as solo homers by Donovan Solano and Jackson Merrill accounted for all of the damage against him. He struck out five and only issued one walk. The unheralded 27-year-old lefty has been pitching well of late, allowing three runs or fewer in three consecutive starts since May 30. He’ll carry a strong 2.49 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 23/9 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings (five appearances, three starts) into a home outing on Tuesday against the Royals.     The White Sox reinstated Wilson (back) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

    Advice: The right-hander landed on the shelf in late May with a back strain but is ready to rejoin Chicago after making two rehab appearances with Triple-A Charlotte.
