    Advice: Walker last pitched Sunday, allowing one run on four hits over one inning while taking a blown save versus the Reds, so it's possible he's been dealing with the issue for a while.   • Nabs save Wednesday
    Kelly earned a save against the Red Sox on Wednesday, striking out two batters in a perfect inning of work.

    Advice: Kelly entered in the ninth inning with Tampa Bay clinging to a one-run lead, and he dispatched the first two batters he faced on strikeouts before getting Ceddanne Rafaela to ground out to wrap up his first save of the campaign. Meanwhile, Pete Fairbanks -- who is usually Tampa's closer -- pitched in the eighth inning against the heart of Boston's order and notched a hold. That usage suggests that manager Kevin Cash won't hesitate to deploy Fairbanks in the highest leverage situations, even when they come before the ninth frame. As such, other Rays relievers (including Kelly) could get save opportunities from time to time, though those chances are probably too unpredictable for fantasy managers to hassle with in leagues that don't reward holds.     Springs (elbow) will pitch in the Florida Complex League on May 20, MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Springs completed a two-inning live batting practice session Wednesday, lining him up to return to the mound in an official game for the first time since April 13, 2023.     Coulombe (1-0) allowed a hit in a scoreless inning and earned the win Wednesday over the Blue Jays. He did not issue a walk or strikeout a batter.

    Advice: Coulombe did his part in the top of the ninth inning to keep the game within reach for the Orioles, and Adley Rutschman rewarded him by walking it off with a two-run home run. Coulombe has not allowed a run over his last seven appearances, covering 6.1 innings with a 3:0 K:BB in that span. He's at a 2.16 ERA, 0.54 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB through 16.2 innings while adding a save, eight holds and a blown save as a reliable high-leverage arm.     Carrasco (2-4) took the loss versus the Rangers on Wednesday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out three over five innings.

    Advice: Carrasco traded zeroes with Jon Gray for the first four innings, but the Rangers broke through on a two-run home by Marcus Semien in the fifth. This was a small step back for Carrasco, who had posted quality starts in his last two outings. The right-hander is now at a 5.16 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB over 45.1 innings this season.     Griffin Canning tossed six innings of one-run ball with five strikeouts in a win over the Cardinals on Wednesday.

    Advice: Canning put together another excellent outing on Wednesday, holding the Cardinals to one run over six frames. The one run would score on a solo homer by Paul Goldschmidt in the sixth inning. Canning scattered four other hits and three walks while striking out five. The 28-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 5.21 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and a 34/18 K/BB ratio across 46 2/3 innings. He lines up for a start against the Astros in Houston on Tuesday.   • Lance Lynn allows four runs in loss to Angels
    Lance Lynn allowed four runs with five strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.

    Advice: The Angels got to Lynn in the first inning. He served up a leadoff homer to Nolan Schanuel before three hits and a wild pitch brought three more runs in to score in the opening frame. Lynn would settle in to toss four more scoreless innings before his day was done.   • Struggles in spot start
    Lucchesi (0-1) took the loss against Philadelphia on Wednesday, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 4.1 innings.

    Advice: It certainly wasn't an ideal matchup for Lucchesi to make his first start of the season, and he didn't do himself any favors in issuing four free passes. Three of the walks came in the fifth frame, and all three of the recipients came around to score. The left-hander was also tormented by Bryce Harper, who hit a solo homer against him in the first inning and then sent him to the showers with a two-run double in the fifth.
