      Assad (4-1) took the loss Sunday against the Cardinals, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight over five innings.

      Advice: Assad's final run line could've looked a lot better had it not been for two mistakes thrown to Paul Goldschmidt. He served up nearly identical two-run homers to Goldschmidt in the third and fifth innings to give the Cardinals a lead they would never relinquish. Assad has now allowed multiple home runs in back-to-back starts while also walking eight batters over that span. The one positive to take away from Sunday's outing is he was able to tie his career-high with eight strikeouts and has 19 strikeouts over his last 15.2 innings.     • Goes seven innings for win
      Lively (4-2) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks over seven innings Sunday, striking out five and earning a win over the Angels.

      Advice: Lively looked terrific with the exception of Matt Thaiss' two-run shot in the fifth inning. It was Lively's first quality start since May 4 but he's now won three straight starts. He's allowed three or fewer runs in each of his eight starts this year, resulting in an impressive 2.80 ERA through 45 innings.     • Javier Assad serves up two homers in loss Sunday
      Javier Assad wasn’t at his best in Sunday night’s loss to the Cardinals, giving up four runs on five hits over his five innings of work.

      Advice: The right-hander piled up eight strikeouts on the night while issuing three free passes. All of the damage done against him came on two bad pitches, that Paul Goldschmidt pulverized for a pair of two-run homers — one in the third inning and another in the fifth. Assad got seven swings and misses on 81 pitches on the night, registering a strong CSW of 35 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he carries his impressive 2.17 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 54/23 K/BB ratio (58 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Reds. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:20 pm

    • Ben Lively delivers against Angels
      Ben Lively allowed two runs on four hits in seven innings in a win over the Angels on Sunday.

      Advice: The right-hander struck out five and walked two on the day. There’s nothing exceptional about Lively’s arsenal as he had just seven whiffs on the day for a 16 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW. However, he has six pitches that he can go to and he showcases above-average command which allows him to produce in the right matchup and post a 2.80 ERA over eight starts. Aside from a poor start against the Rangers and one average start against the White Sox, Lively has been solid.       Lopez (2-2) took the loss Saturday in Pittsburgh, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk over just 4.2 innings. He struck out three.

      Advice: Saturday marked the right-hander's shortest outing of the season and also his fewest number of pitches thrown (70) in a start this year. Lopez labored a bit in the third and fourth frames, and Atlanta manager Brian Snitker elected to pull his starter after he yielded a two-out single in the fifth.       Reynaldo López went 4 2/3 innings and gave up three runs — two earned — in a start Saturday against the Pirates.

      Advice: Lopez gave up five hits with one walk while striking out three. The right-hander allowed an RBI single in the third, and two more runs scored on a Nick Gonzales double.       Javier Assad yielded three runs — two earned — in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Braves.

      Advice: This really should have been worse, considering that Assad gave up two homers and walked five batters. Still, his ERA remained intact at 1.70, and though he left with the Cubs down by a run, he avoided taking what would have been his first loss in 10 starts this year.       Assad allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and five walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus Atlanta on Tuesday.

      Advice: Assad gave up a two-run home run to Orlando Arcia in the second inning and a solo shot to Michael Harris in the fourth. The five walks were also a season high, and it was the fourth time this season Assad has issued three or more free passes. For the season, he's at a 1.70 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 46:20 K:BB through 53 innings across 10 starts. He's had little trouble with the long ball this year, so it's safe to assume he'll continue to find success in run prevention if he can keep the ball down.       Lively (3-2) earned the win over the Mets on Monday, allowing one run on six hits and no walks while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings.

      Advice: The only run Lively allowed in the outing came via a Tomas Nido solo homer in the third inning. Lively was otherwise excellent, matching a season high with seven punchouts and falling one out shy of recording a quality start. The right-hander is in the midst of the best season of his career, posting a 2.84 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 38:12 K:BB over 38 innings.
