• Lands on IL with fractured thumb
The Reds placed Friedl on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a fractured left thumb.

Advice: Friedl left Sunday's 6-5 loss to the Giants after being hit by a pitch in the top of the first inning. The injury was initially reported as a contusion, but further tests revealed fractures in his left thumb. Friedl started the season on the IL with a fractured right wrist, and he appeared in just six major-league games after being activated May 7. Stuart Fairchild and Jake Fraley will see more playing time while Friedl remains sidelined. The Reds recalled outfielder Jacob Hurtubise from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. • Sitting out with back spasms
Winker (back) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Winker was removed from Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Red Sox with back spasms. He's feeling better Monday, but isn't well enough to start just yet. Winker dealt with back problems for a chunk of last season while he was with the Brewers, but his current back issue is considered unrelated. Nick Senzel will serve as the Nationals' designated hitter while Winker recovers. Rotowire.com Today, 3:13 pm

  • Reds call up Jacob Hurtubise for MLB debut
Reds recalled OF Jacob Hurtubise from Triple-A Louisville.

Advice: Hurtubise will be making his major league debut as a result of TJ Friedl’s injury. The 26-year-old just returned from injury himself, having missed the first month. He’s played in only nine games this year, going 7-for-29. He busted out last year, hitting .330/.479/.483 with seven homers and 45 steals between Double- and Triple-A. He doesn’t project as a long-term starter, but with his speed, he’ll be interesting if he gets a chance here against righties. Rotoworld Today, 3:10 pm
  • Reds place Friedl on I.L. with thumb fracture
Reds placed OF TJ Friedl on the 10-day disabled list with a fractured left thumb.

Advice: The report yesterday was that X-rays were negative on Friedl’s thumb after he was hit by a pitch, but it seems that wasn’t the case. Friedl was injured in his sixth game since returning from a sprained wrist. The Reds figure to go back to Will Benson in center, but they might want to give the newly recalled Jacob Hurtubise a shot. • Joey Gallo on track to return this weekend
Joey Gallo (shoulder) is slated to play two more rehab games with Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Advice: He’ll then likely rejoin the Nationals this weekend. Gallo has hit .154/.353/.539 in eight minor league games. He’s 4-for-26 with three homers and a double. Rotoworld Today, 3:02 pm

  • Benched against lefty
Kelenic is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cubs.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Kelenic will retreat to the bench for the series opener versus the Cubs with ace lefty Shota Imanaga taking the bump for Chicago. The right-handed-hitting Adam Duvall will fill in for Kelenic in left field. Rotowire.com Today, 3:02 pm
  • Jesse Winker absent due to back spasms
Jesse Winker is out of Monday’s lineup after leaving Sunday’s game due to back spasms.

Advice: Winker said he feels better today, which suggests he might be able to play tomorrow. The veteran is batting just .143/.247/.247 over his last 21 games. Rotoworld Today, 2:55 pm

  • Rehab games could come this week
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that Robert (hip) could begin playing in games with the team's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate later this week, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Advice: The White Sox are aiming for Robert to be able to run at 90 percent effort in the coming days. If that happens, Robert is expected to be cleared for Complex League games. The 26-year-old presumably would eventually move up to a higher-level affiliate to continue his rehab. Robert has been out since early April with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain but should return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the month if all goes well. Rotowire.com Today, 2:47 pm

  • Pete Crow-Armstrong again on bench against Braves
Pete Crow-Armstrong is on the bench for a third straight game Monday against the Braves.

Advice: PCA remained in the Cubs’ lineup for a few games after Cody Bellinger returning, but he’s been crowded out now with Seiya Suzuki also back. Crow-Armstrong is too young to sit around and not play much, so even though he’s been solid in his 18 games, he might head back to Triple-A soon. Rotoworld Today, 2:44 pm
