    Advice: Suwinski delivered an RBI double in the fifth inning and came around to score to give the Pirates the lead. It was his second consecutive start with a double, but he had only five hits in 24 at-bats across a seven-game homestand. Suwinski has cut his strikeout rate to 17.2 percent -- down from 32.2 percent in 2023 -- but that has yet to lead to positive results, as he's batting .183 with two home runs across 93 plate appearances.     Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Thursday in a 2-1 win over Washington.

    Advice: Hernandez's second-inning solo shot put the Dodgers on the board and amounted for half of the team's total output of runs in the low-scoring win. The long ball was the slugger's sixth of the campaign and his first over his past 11 contests. Hernandez has trailed off a bit of late after a strong start to his Dodgers tenure, but he still ranks second on the team and is tied for 11th in the majors with 20 RBI. The plan was for him to play against left-handers, but injuries to key players have led to four of his five starts against right-handers, against whom he's 7-for-16 with five extra-base hits.     Advice: Smith launched his first homer of the season in the fourth inning, which tied the game momentarily before the Mariners plated two a half-inning later. He got the start at shortstop while primary starter Corey Seager served as DH a day after he left a game with a bruised shin. If Seager is limited to DH for a bit, Smith will be the primary fill-in at short. If Seager is ready for a defensive role, then Smith will go back to sharing third base with Ezequiel Duran.     Nolan Jones (back) remained out of the lineup for Thursday’s series finale against the Padres.

    Advice: It seems like Jones will be ready to return for this weekend’s highly-anticipated series against the Astros in Mexico City after sitting out a pair of contests against the Padres following an early exit from Tuesday’s game due to back stiffness.     Jurickson Profar homered and drove in three runs against the Padres on Thursday.

    Advice: Profar took Nick Mears deep in the seventh inning to extend the Padres’ lead to 8-4 in the seventh inning. He also picked up an RBI with a single in the third off an ineffective Dakota Hudson.     Advice: Brennan opened the scoring with a solo shot off Chase Anderson in the second inning, his third homer of the year. Brennan's started to swing the bat well recently -- he's now 6-for-13 with five extra-base hits (including two homers) in his last four games. The left-handed Brennan has gotten the majority of starts in right field this season with Ramon Laureano occupying the short side of the platoon.
