• Winn has two-hit game Thursday
Masyn Winn went 2-for-5 against the Rockies on Thursday.

Advice: It was a quiet night for the Cardinals offense, but Winn returned from a back injury and added another two hits out of the leadoff spot. His average is up to .311 with an .804 OPS on the season. In his last 25 games, Winn is 32-for-89 (.359) with three home runs and three stolen bases. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:53 pm

  • Ceddanne Rafaela has four hits, plates four in win
Ceddanne Rafaela went 4-for-6 with four RBI on Thursday in the Red Sox’ win over the White Sox.

Advice: Rafaela matched a season-high with four hits in this one as Boston drubbed Chicago’s pitching staff for 14 runs on 24 hits in a lopsided affair. The 23-year-old defensive wizard continues to make an impact for the Red Sox, but remains a bit of a work in progress from an offensive standpoint. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:53 pm
  • Nick Gonzales hits fourth homer Thursday in loss
Nick Gonzales went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Thursday in the Pirates’ loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Gonzales took Dodgers starter Walker Buehler deep in the early stages of the contest for his fourth long ball of the season. The 25-year-old infielder has been an unexpected revelation for Pittsburgh, batting .315 (28-for-89) with four homers and two steals in 24 games since arriving back in the majors last month. • Tommy Edman progresses to hitting from both sides
Tommy Edman (wrist) has been cleared to take batting practice from both sides of the plate.

Advice: Edman continues to work his way back from offseason surgery on his right wrist and remains without a definitive timetable to return to St. Louis at the moment. The versatile switch-hitting 29-year-old figures to be ready around the All-Star break, but he’s going to need a couple weeks of at-bats in the minors to get back up to speed in the wake of such an extended layoff. • Masyn Winn returns to lineup Thursday vs. Rockies
Masyn Winn (back) is in the lineup for Thursday’s series opener against the Rockies.

Advice: Winn took a seat for Wednesday’s game against the Astros to address a lingering back issue, so it’s a positive development that he’s ready to roll for Thursday’s series opener against the Rockies at Busch Stadium. The 22-year-old shortstop has been excellent this season, taking a major step forward at the dish, batting .309 with three homers and eight steals across 197 plate appearances over 54 games. • Returns to lineup Thursday
Winn (back) will play shortstop and bat leadoff in Thursday's game versus the Rockies.

Advice: Winn was absent from the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday in Houston as he battles a nagging back issue. It's something he's been managing off and on all season but hasn't seemed to affect him lately, as the rookie shortstop is slashing .370/.400/.575 over his last 20 contests. • Plays catch Thursday
Mateo (concussion) played catch on the field at Rogers Centre in Toronto on Thursday, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Advice: Mateo was placed on the 7-day concussion injured list Monday after his teammate, Cedric Mullins, inadvertently hit him with the bat in the back of the helmet while in the on-deck circle. It's not clear yet whether Mateo will have a chance to return when first eligible June 10, but him being able to travel with the team and take part in some baseball activities is a encouraging sign. • Plays seven innings in field
Perdomo (knee) started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with an RBI in a rehab game with Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.

Advice: Perdomo's rehab moved from the rookie-level Arizona Complex League to Reno on Wednesday, and the shortstop played seven innings in the field. Per Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com, the Diamondbacks aren't targeting a specific number of games or at-bats for Perdomo; instead, his return date depends on how he feels. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo confirmed Perdomo won't be activated from the 10-day injured list during the upcoming four-game series against the Padres that begin Thursday, but a return next week could be in the cards. • Drives in four
Gonzales went 2-for-3 with a two-RBI double, a sacrifice fly and an RBI single during Wednesday's 10-6 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Despite the Pirates putting up a 10-spot, Gonzales' two-RBI double in the second inning was Pittsburgh's lone extra-base hit on the day. His four RBI tied his career high, which was set May 24 against Atlanta. Before that, the 25-year-old hadn't generated more than two RBI in a game in his career. Wednesday's contest added to Gonzales' breakout campaign, as he's slashing .310/.355/.500 with 20 RBI, 12 runs and two stolen bases in 94 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:31 pm
