• Brent Rooker goes deep as A’s fall to Mariners
Brent Rooker socked his 10th dinger of the season on Sunday as the Athletics fell to the Mariners in Seattle.

Advice: The 29-year-old outfielder clubbed a 411-foot (113.4 mph EV) two-run shot off of Cody Bolton in the eighth inning, pulling the A’s to within four runs at 8-4. He also singled in the ballgame, finishing the day 2-for-4. On the season, he’s hitting an impressive .292/.380/.632 with 10 homers, 27 RBI and a pair of stolen bases for good measure. • LaMonte Wade Jr. hits two-run homer in Giants’ win
LaMonte Wade Jr. hit a two-run homer and walked twice Sunday as the Giants bested the Reds 6-5 in 10 innings.

Advice: One of the walks was his first intentional pass of the season. The MLB OBP leader at .480, Wade now has two homers in 123 plate appearances. Because of his performance and the fact that the Giants are really banged up, he made his first two starts of the year against lefties on Friday and Saturday. That he’s not platooning at the moment makes him an option in deeper mixed leagues. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:56 pm

  • TJ Friedl diagnosed with left thumb contusion
The Reds announced that TJ Friedl was diagnosed with a left thumb contusion after being hit by a pitch during Sunday’s game against the Giants.

Advice: Fortunately, X-rays came back negative on Friedl’s thumb after he was pulled from Sunday’s game. That wasn’t before he swiped a base and scored a run in the top half of the first inning though. He may wind up missing a game or two due to pain and swelling, but it sounds like Friedl should be able to avoid a return trip to the injured list. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:51 pm

  • Corbin Carroll has two hits against Orioles
Corbin Carroll went 2-for-5 with a double in a 9-2 win over the Orioles on Sunday.

Advice: The effort put Carroll over the Mendoza Line on the season, as the 23-year-old is now hitting .201/.287/.266. Perhaps more encouraging, both of Carroll’s hits left the bat at over 100 mph. There are still real concerns about his ability to lift and drive the ball, and his home run projections all feel a bit high, but it’s nice to see him making authoritative contact. • Mauricio Dubón collects four hits in victory
Mauricio Dubón finished 4-for-5 with an RBI against the Tigers on Sunday.

Advice: Dubón pushed his average back up to .303 while filling in for Jose Altuve today. That comes with just a .330 OBP and a .416 slugging, but, obviously, when he’s hitting .300, he’s a fine player. The Astros will keep squeezing him into the lineup, probably at the expense of Jake Meyers and Joey Loperfido. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:03 pm

  • Dealing with thumb injury
Friedl suffered a right thumb contusion in Sunday's matchup with the Giants, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Friedl was hit by a pitch in the top of the first inning and exited the contest after not feeling well in the batting cages. The outfielder appears to have avoided any fractures in his thumb, so he can be considered day-to-day for the time being. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:47 pm

  • Rosario has homer, steal in loss to Red Sox
Eddie Rosario went 1-for-2 with two walks, a home run, and a steal in a loss to the Red Sox on Sunday.

Advice: Rosario’s overall stat line isn’t great, but he now has hits in seven straight games and went 7-for-15 this week with three home runs, four RBI, and three steals. We’ve seen him be a useful fantasy contributor before, so if this is the beginning of a hot stretch, now might be the time to pick him up in deeper formats. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:45 pm

  • Connor Joe has two hits, HR in loss to Cubs
Connor Joe went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double in a loss to the Cubs on Sunday.

Advice: Joe had a big 10th-inning home run off Adbert Alzolay that left the bat at 109.4 mph and brought the Pirates to within one. He also had a 102 mph double earlier in the game and has been seeing the ball well. He also made five starts for the Pirates this week and has been starting to play more regularly, which would be huge for his fantasy value. If he can continue to draw semi-regular starts against right-handed pitchers, he can be scooped up in all 15-team formats. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:33 pm

  • Jesús Sánchez has two hits in win over Phillies
Jesús Sánchez went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a 7-6 win over the Phillies.

Advice: Sánchez looked good at the dish with a 107.7 mph double in the second inning and his only two outs being a 110.7 mph lineout that had an xBA of .840 and a 105 mph fly out with an xBA of .930 that would have been a home run in 10 MLB stadiums. However, despite that, he was removed for a pinch hitter in the 10th inning with a lefty on the mound as Emmanuel Rivera knocked in the game-winning run. Sánchez’s upside is thus limited since he won’t face lefties at all, but he could provide value in daily moves leagues while hitting in the middle of the order for the Marlins.
