    • Dealing with illness
Adell was held out of Wednesday's lineup because he has a virus, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Per Fletcher, Adell has the same virus that recently shelved teammate Brandon Drury. The latter sat out 11 days due to the illness, but it's not clear if Adell's symptoms are as severe or if he'll need to miss additional time. Kevin Pillar got a start in right field Wednesday in Adell's absence. Rotowire.com Thursday, 11:32 am

    • Productive again in win
Butler went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: The 24-year-old has flipped a switch in July, going 9-for-27 (.333) in eight games with three homers, two steals, six runs and nine RBI. Butler's tools have never been in question, just his ability to make enough contact to be consistently productive, and even during his current hot streak he's whiffed nine times for a 31 percent strikeout rate. • Lawrence Butler plates two, steals base in win
Lawrence Butler went 2-for-3 with a two-run double and also stole a base on Wednesday, leading the Athletics to a 5-2 win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Butler singled and stole second base in his first at-bat of the night before scalding a two-run double down the left field line off Red Sox starter Nick Pivetta in the ensuing frame. The 24-year-old former top prospect has started to heat up recently, batting .304 (7-for-23) with two homers, six RBI and two steals over his last seven games. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:40 pm

    • Trent Grisham plates two in victory over Rays
Trent Grisham went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBI on Wednesday, lifting the Yankees to a 2-1 victory over the Rays.

Advice: Grisham was responsible for New York’s lone extra-base hit of a low-scoring contest when he smacked a run-scoring double off Rays starter Zach Eflin in the second inning. He also brought home an additional run a couple frames later with a sacrifice fly. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:06 pm

    • Jo Adell (illness) held out of lineup on Wednesday
Jo Adell was held out of the Angels’ starting lineup on Wednesday night due to illness.

Advice: Angels’ manager Ron Washington told reporters prior to the game that Adell is dealing with the same illness that sidelined Brandon Drury last week. If that’s the case, it might be a few days before Adell is able to give it a go again. Kevin Pillar will start in his place and will bat cleanup for the Angels on Wednesday evening against Michael Lorenzen and the Rangers. Rotoworld Wednesday, 3:59 pm

    • Getting Wednesday off
Adell isn't in the Angels' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Advice: Adell is slashing just .143/.200/.250 with two RBI since the beginning of July. He'll get a day to regroup Wednesday while Kevin Pillar starts in right field and bats fourth. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:16 pm

    • Idle versus LHP
Mitchell isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Advice: The left-handed-hitting Mitchell will step out of the lineup Wednesday with left-hander Martin Perez slated to start on the mound for Pittsburgh. Blake Perkins will get the nod to start in center field instead, batting seventh. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:12 pm

    • Pete Crow-Armstrong (thumb) returns to lineup
Pete Crow-Armstrong, who has been troubled by a thumb injury, is starting Wednesday for the first time in a week.

Advice: Crow-Armstrong did come off the bench last night, entering as a pinch-runner and staying in to play center field. He’s batting eighth tonight. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:49 pm
    • Making return to lineup
Crow-Armstrong (thumb) will start in center field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: Crow-Armstrong will pick up his first start in a week, as he went without an appearance in four straight games while he contended with a sore left thumb before he made a cameo off the bench as a pinch runner in Tuesday's 9-2 win. Though the lefty-hitting Crow-Armstrong may continue to sit against most left-handed starting pitchers, he should get the chance to play regularly against righties now that he's healthy again. He may be at risk of a demotion to Triple-A Iowa, however, once the Cubs get Mike Tauchman (groin) back from the injured list. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 12:44 pm
