    • Scratched Saturday
Brujan was scratched from the Marlins' lineup ahead of Saturday's game versus Philadelphia, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Marlins have not yet provided a reason for Brujan's removal from the lineup, but the team should offer some clarity in the near future. In the meantime, Jake Burger will shift to third base for Brujan while Josh Bell moves to first, allowing Jesus Sanchez to enter the lineup as Miami's DH. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:36 am

    • Marlins scratch Vidal Bruján from Saturday’s lineup
Vidal Bruján was scratched from Saturday’s lineup.

Advice: Bruján was scratched in order to get Jesús Sánchez back into Miami’s lineup at designated hitter after he got the go-ahead from the club’s training staff following a pregame check. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:30 am

    • Set to face live pitching
Rendon (hamstring) will face live pitching next Thursday or Friday and could return to action July 8 versus Texas, Michael Huntley of The Sporting Tribune reports.

Advice: Rendon has been participating in a variety of baseball activities -- including taking grounders, batting in the cage and running the bases -- so taking swings against live pitching is the logical next step in his quest to return from a left hamstring strain. Angels manager Ron Washington indicated Friday that he hopes the veteran third baseman can return for the beginning of a home series against the Rangers that kicks off July 8, though that date is certainly not set in stone. Rendon recently indicated that he's considering agreeing to a rehab assignment ahead of his return, but it doesn't appear he's made a decision on that topic at this point. • Productive from bottom of order
Rojas went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in an extra-inning win over the Twins on Friday.

Advice: Rojas was the only Mariner to garner multiple hits on a quiet night overall for Seattle's bats, and he contributed the first run of the game on a fifth-inning two-bagger that plated Mitch Haniger. Rojas now has four multi-hit efforts in the last 12 games, a stretch during which he's accumulated five extra-base hits despite a modest .250 average and .302 on-base percentage. Friday's production also snapped a rare skid for Rojas, who'd gone 0-for-14 over the previous four contests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:29 am

    • Orioles outright Nick Maton to Triple-A
Orioles sent INF Nick Maton outright to Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Maton will stick around as extra organizational depth after passing through waivers unclaimed earlier this week. The 27-year-old infielder got into one game this season for Baltimore after appearing in 179 contests between the Tigers and Phillies since 2021. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:58 am

    • Homer, steal in win
Chapman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a stolen base in Friday's 5-3 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Chapman's power has come back, as he has three extra-base hits -- including two homers -- over his last five games. The third baseman gave the Giants their first lead Friday with his sixth-inning blast. For the season, he's up to 10 homers, 35 RBI, 53 runs scored and seven steals while posting a .235/.316/.399 slash line over 80 contests. Rotowire.com Friday, 10:37 pm
    • Matt Chapman homers, steals base in victory
Matt Chapman stole a base and hit a two-run homer in a win for the Giants on Friday over the Dodgers.

Advice: Chapman hit a two-run homer off Daniel Hudson for his 10th homer of the season, and he stole his seventh bag of the year for good measure. The 31-year-old has been a mild disappointment thus far in 2024 — depending on expectations, of course — with a .235/.316/.399 slash, but the homers and steals have help balance things out a bit. • Santiago Espinal designated hitless in loss
Santiago Espinal went 0-for-4 as the Reds’ DH in the shutout loss to the Cardinals on Friday.

Advice: We’re not saying it tops “for sale: baby shoes, never worn,” but “Santiago Espinal, designated hitter” is also an awfully sad story and is two entire words shorter. The Cincinnati lineup tonight was a product of the Reds keeping Jeimer Candelario and Jake Fraley in injury limbo for the third straight game; neither could even DH tonight, but the Reds still didn’t want to commit to IL stints. Espinal is currently batting .198/.246/.287 in... wait, that can’t be right... 187 plate appearances? Rotoworld Friday, 8:54 pm

    • Placed on IL
The Giants placed Flores on the 10-day injured list Friday with right knee tendinitis, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Flores has been slumping at the plate lately, going just 2-for-19 with three RBI in his last six games. He'll be sidelined for at least 10 days due to his knee, and starting first base duties will be given back to LaMonte Wade (hamstring), who was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move.
