      Advice: It’s a soft landing spot for Scherzer, who is finally set to make his season debut after undergoing offseason back surgery and dealing with a nerve-related thumb issue during his rehabilitation process. The 39-year-old veteran isn’t the fantasy stalwart anymore from earlier in his career, but can still make an impact for fantasy managers on a per-start basis moving forward.       TJ Friedl (hamstring) is absent from the lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against the Pirates.

      Advice: No surprise here after Friedl was forced to leave Monday’s series opener with right hamstring tightness following a stellar defensive play in center field. The 28-year-old outfielder had started 17 consecutive contests since returning from the injured list back on May 29. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.       Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 2-for-2 with an RBI on Monday in the Marlins’ extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

      Advice: Chisholm walked three times in the extra-inning marathon, reaching base safely in all five of his plate appearances, but it wasn’t enough as Miami lost for the eighth time in their last 10 games since June 7.       Advice: Friedl made a diving catch in center field, robbing Nick Gonzales of an extra-base hit in the bottom of the fifth and injuring his hamstring in the process. Manager David Bell said Friedl had a full range of motion and strength, stating that the hamstring was "just tight."
