    • Jackson Chourio not in Thursday’s lineup
Jackson Chourio is not in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Chourio has shown some signs of life with six hits in 19 at-bats over his last seven contests, but he’ll take a seat to open Thursday’s contest with Christian Yelich back in left field, Sal Frelick in center and Jake Bauers in right. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:14 pm

    • Sits down Thursday
Chourio isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Thursday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: Chourio will miss his second start in a row Thursday, though he came off the bench and went 0-for-2 during Wednesday's loss to the Royals. Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick and Jake Bauers will start across Milwaukee's outfield while Chourio rests. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:56 pm

    • Earns win Wednesday
Clase (2-1) earned the extra-inning win Wednesday over the Tigers, striking out one without allowing a hit or a walk in a scoreless inning.

Advice: Clase was sharp in the 10th inning despite a fielder's choice and a wild pitch, and the Guardians completed their comeback on a walk-off Brayan Rocchio single in the bottom of the frame. This outing extended Clase's scoreless streak to five innings, and he's gone 12.1 innings without giving up an earned run. The closer is 11-for-13 in save chances while pitching to a 0.47 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and 20:1 K:BB through 19.1 innings on the year. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:01 am

    • Stellar in non-save scenario
Miller fired two perfect innings during which he recorded four strikeouts in the first game of a doubleheader against the Rangers on Wednesday.

Advice: Miller had last taken the hill May 1, so manager Mark Kotsay opted to give his closer some much-needed work with the Athletics up by five runs. The extended layoff didn't seem to faze Miller in the least, as he located 24 of 32 pitches for strikes in a relatively efficient showing. The hard-throwing right-hander lowered his ERA and WHIP to 1.10 and 0.67, respectively, and with the Athletics much more competitive than expected thus far, Miller's prospects for save opportunities over the long term are brighter than when the season began, despite the recent stretch of inactivity. • Dominates old team
Sale (5-1) earned the win over the Red Sox on Wednesday, hurling six shutout innings while allowing six hits and one walk. He struck out 10.

Advice: Sale allowed at least one hit in each of his first five innings of work but was consistently able to work his way through it without sustaining any damage. He logged just one 1-2-3 inning, which came in the sixth, while fanning a season-high 10 batters on the night. The veteran lefty has now logged quality starts in three of his last four outings and hasn't produced fewer than six strikeouts in any of his seven starts this season. He's also won each of his last four starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:34 am

    • Goes deep Wednesday
Stanton went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 9-4 win against Houston.

Advice: Stanton hit one of three homers for New York in the victory, taking Spencer Arrighetti deep for a 447-foot solo blast in the third inning. It was the second straight game with a long ball for the slugger, and he extended his modest hitting streak to five games. Stanton has struck out 10 times in 20 at-bats over that stretch, so he's far from locked in at the plate, but three of his five hits during the streak have gone for extra bases. • Sale dominates former team Wednesday
Chris Sale was utterly dominant with six shutout innings and 10 strikeouts and picked up the win in the 5-0 victory over the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Sale lowered his ERA on the season to 2.95 with the excellent outing. He certainly showed the Red Sox what they’re missing after trading him last offseason. The win was Sale’s fifth in seven starts this season. His 52 strikeouts are in the top 10 among qualified starting pitchers. Sale is set to take on the Chicago Cubs at home next week. • Kevin Ginkel struggles in save chance on Wednesday
Kevin Ginkel struggled in a save chance against the Reds on Wednesday night, giving up a run on two hits and a walk while recording only one out.

Advice: Ginkel came on with a two-run lead to protect, but things got interesting in a hurry as Jake Fraley drew a walk, Jeimer Candelario smacked a one-out single and TJ Friedl tacked on an RBI single. That caused manager Torey Lovullo to have a quick hook, getting Joe Mantiply to come out and finish the job. With Paul Sewald back, Ginkel wasn’t going to hold down the closer’s gig any longer, but if he did still have any leash in the role, it may have evaporated on Wednesday. • Chris Bassitt pitches into seventh in victory
Chris Bassitt pitched 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball and struck out six Wednesday as the Blue Jays bested the Phillies 5-3.

Advice: The Jays wanted a little extra from Bassitt today with Yimi Garcia still unavailable and a tired bullpen after Tuesday’s 10-1 loss, and they got it, even though Bassitt didn’t get through seven as he would have liked. Bassitt struck out six and walked two. The win makes him 3-5 with a 5.06 ERA ahead of next week’s outing against the Orioles. Rotoworld Wednesday, 2:10 pm
