• Homers in consecutive games
Schmitt went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Yankees.

Advice: With Marco Luciano (hamstring) landing on the injured list Friday, Schmitt has a chance to make shortstop his own in June. This was Schmitt's second game in a row in the lineup -- he started versus right-hander Cody Poteet on Saturday and stayed in the starting nine versus southpaw Nestor Cortes on Sunday. Through eight games this season, Schmitt has two homers, five RBI and two runs scored over 30 plate appearances. Brett Wisely has also been an option at shortstop lately, and both Schmitt and Wisely offer utility upside if the Giants opt to get creative with their lineup decisions. • Collects first hit, RBI in debut
Schneemann went 1-for-3 with a two-run double in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Nationals.

Advice: Schneemann made his major-league debut Sunday, and it didn't take him long to add a couple other milestones. He produced a two-run double in his first at-bat, providing all of the Guardians' run production in the contest. The 27-year-old is likely to take on a utility role -- he started at second base Sunday but likely won't see much time there with Andres Gimenez in a starting role at the keystone. Schneemann's best paths to playing time will likely be right field or shortstop, as Will Brennan and Brayan Rocchio haven't hit particularly well despite seeing large roles this season. • Provides lone run
Gelof went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Sunday's 3-1 loss to Atlanta.

Advice: Gelof put up the A's only tally Sunday, swatting a game-tying homer off Dylan Lee in the seventh inning. The long ball was Gelof's fourth of the season, and his first since April 22. The second baseman finishes the three-game series with Atlanta 3-for-11 (.273) with three extra-base hits, two RBI and three runs. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:40 pm
  • Healthy again at Triple-A
Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre reinstated Vivas (undisclosed) from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Advice: Vivas has made five starts since being activated, going 4-for-17 with four walks, three RBI and three runs. The 23-year-old has already been on the IL on two occasions in 2024, as he opened the season on the shelf due to an orbital fracture that he suffered late in spring training. Vivas is slashing .208/.333/.292 overall through seven games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:22 pm
  • Shut down at Triple-A
Triple-A Charlotte placed Shewmake on its 7-day injured list Sunday due to an unspecified injury.

Advice: After receiving limited playing time with the White Sox, Shewmake was optioned to Charlotte on May 17 and had settled into an everyday role with the Triple-A club. However, he went just 4-for-33 (.121 average) at the dish over nine games with Charlotte before suffering an apparent injury Saturday and landing on the IL a day later. • Tallies three hits
Perez went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored Sunday against the Red Sox.

Advice: Perez matched a season high with three hits, plating a run with his seventh-inning double, later scoring the go-ahead run in the 10th. He had entered the game in a 3-for-28 skid over his last seven starts prior to his outburst Sunday. The 24-year-old rookie outfielder has now accumulated 14 extra-base hits including six doubles, five triples and three homers while driving in 15, scoring 22 and swiping four bags over 152 plate appearances. • Wenceel Pérez collects three hits in Tigers’ win
Wenceel Pérez finished 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored Sunday as the Tigers topped the Red Sox 8-4 in 10 innings.

Advice: The second run came as the automatic runner in the 10th. Each time it’s looked like Pérez’s hot start to his big-league career might be coming to a conclusion, he bounces back with something like this. The 24-year-old had gone 6-for-40 with one RBI in his previous 10 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:07 pm

  • Going through concussion protocol
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Mateo is going through the concussion protocol after exiting Sunday's game versus the Rays, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Mateo was struck in the head by the bat of teammate Cedric Mullins around the on-deck circle and was subsequently removed from the contest. It remains to be seen if Mateo will miss additional time, and he should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 1:49 pm

  • Jorge Mateo placed in concussion protocol Sunday
Orioles’ manager Brandon Hyde told reporters after Sunday’s game that Jorge Mateo is in the concussion protocol.

Advice: The 28-year-old was hit in the head by Cedric Mullins’ bat in the on-deck circle during Sunday’s contest against the Rays. He’ll have to pass through the concussion protocol before he’s able to return to game action. That’s probably going to cost him at least a couple of days, and it’s possible that he winds up on the 7-day concussion injured list. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:36 pm
