    • Denies combined no-hit bid
Martinez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Saturday in a loss to Atlanta.

Advice: Three Atlanta pitchers combined to no-hit New York over 8.2 innings before Martinez slugged a solo shot off Raisel Iglesias to end the bid at history. The long ball was Martinez's first as a Met in his 48th plate appearance. Though his power didn't emerge until Saturday, Martinez has put up a steady .267/.313/.378 slash line through 14 games. • Fires seven hitless frames
Fried (3-1) earned the win over the Mets on Saturday, allowing three walks while striking out five batters over seven scoreless and hitless innings.

Advice: Fried threw 109 pitches during his seven frames, so manager Brian Snitker didn't allow him to push any further for an individual no-hitter. Atlanta's bullpen carried the no-no into the ninth inning before J.D. Martinez ended the combined bid with a two-out solo homer off Raisel Iglesias. Though he didn't etch his name in the record books, Fried bounced back very nicely after giving up four runs over seven frames and picking up his first loss in his previous outing. He's now notched four quality starts on the campaign. Rotowire.com 28 minutes ago

    • Strikes out eight in return from IL
Luzardo (0-3) took the loss Saturday versus the Phillies, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He recorded eight strikeouts.

Advice: Luzardo looked sharp in his return from the injured list, striking out eight while picking up an impressive 18 swinging strikes on just 79 pitches. He might have tired a bit in the sixth, giving up a double and a game-tying RBI single before being lifted with two outs and a runner on. That runner came around to score, adding another run to his ledger. While the ending of his night wasn't ideal, it was an encouraging performance from Luzardo against a tough lineup. His next start will come at home versus the Mets. Rotowire.com Today, 5:05 pm

    • Collects sixth save
Jansen struck out two in a perfect inning Saturday to notch his sixth save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Nationals.

Advice: After the Red Sox broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Jansen made quick work of the Nats in the top of the ninth with a groundout and a couple punchouts. The outing comes one day after Jansen was touched up for two runs in a non-save situation Friday. Jansen battled control issues early on in the season but has seemed to figure those out, putting up a 10:1 K:BB across his last six frames. Rotowire.com Today, 4:38 pm
    • Fans nine in no-decision
Criswell did not factor into the decision Saturday versus the Nationals, permitting two runs on three hits and a walk over five frames. He struck out nine.

Advice: Criswell was dinged by a couple solo home runs; one in the second inning by Joey Meneses and another in the fourth hit by Eddie Rosario. He yielded only one other hit and no runs otherwise, though, and his nine punchouts were a career high. Criswell was pulled after five with his pitch count at just 79, as the Red Sox are continuing to keep a close eye on his workload as he transitions from the bullpen (he hasn't thrown more than 83 pitches in a start and has yet to record an out beyond the fifth inning). He's been awfully effective when on the bump, though, with his ERA actually going up to 2.10 after Saturday's outing. Criswell is slated to face his former club, the Rays, his next time out. • J.D. Martinez breaks up no-hitter with solo homer
J.D. Martinez hit a solo homer in the ninth in a loss to Atlanta on Saturday.

Advice: It didn’t really impact the result of the game, but Martinez saved the Mets some embarrassment with his homer, as it prevented the team from being no-hit. He waited until the last moment to do so, as it came with two outs in the ninth off Raisel Iglesias. It’s the first homer of the season for Martinez, and the first as a member of the Mets. • Max Fried no-hits Mets over seven innings in win
Max Fried went seven no-hit innings to help Atlanta to a 4-1 win over the Mets on Saturday.

Advice: For the second time in three starts, Fried has not allowed a hit. Unfortunately, his pitch count has prevented him from being able to complete the no-no in both, and he was done Saturday after throwing 109 pitches. The Mets wouldn’t pick up a hit until a solo homer off Raisel Iglesias J.D. Martinez in the ninth. Still, the left-hander was once again awfully impressive, and he struck out five against three walks without really being challenged throughout the outing. Fried will take a 3.57 ERA into his next scheduled start, which is penciled in for Friday against San Diego. Rotoworld Today, 3:57 pm

    • Rafael Devers drives in go-ahead runs in eighth
Rafael Devers hit a two-run double to help the Red Sox to a 4-2 win over the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Devers turned a 2-2 game into a 4-2 lead for the Red Sox with a two-run double in the eighth. The 27-year-old third baseman also singled, and the pair of hits ups his line to .288/.403/.481 with 14 RBI. The power leaves a bit to be desired — if only because of lofty expectations — but Devers’ track-record suggests he’ll be among the best at his position again in 2024. Even if he maintained those numbers fantasy managers wouldn’t complain all that much. Rotoworld Today, 3:28 pm

    • Kenley Jansen whiffs two while picking up save
Kenley Jansen struck out two while picking up a save against the Nationals on Saturday.

Advice: Jansen didn’t allow a hit and threw 12-of-16 pitches for strikes. The 36-year-old remains effective in the closing role, and he’s up to six saves while lowering his ERA to 1.86 on the 2024 campaign. Tough to complain about those results. Rotoworld Today, 3:28 pm
