• Makes two-inning rehab start
Wicks (forearm) struck out three and gave up two hits and no walks over two scoreless innings in his rehab start Friday with Triple-A Iowa.

Advice: Wicks threw 33 pitches (22 strikes) in the outing. The Cubs haven't announced the next step for Wicks following Friday's appearance, but he'll presumably need at least one more rehab start to get stretched out some more before Chicago is comfortable bringing him back from the 15-day injured list and inserting him into the rotation. Ben Brown is currently filling in for Wicks as the Cubs' No. 5 starter, with his second turn through the rotation set to come Tuesday in Milwaukee. Rotowire.com Today, 9:19 am

  • Looking good in batting practice
Alvarez (thumb) was reaching exit velocities over 100 miles per hour during batting practice over the weekend, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The 22-year-old catcher is still wearing a splint on his surgically repaired thumb, however, and the Mets aren't going to rush him back from the 10-day injured list. The team may also use his recovery period to have him work on his positioning behind the plate, as Alvarez has a tendency to be overeager reaching for pitches and is susceptible to getting his glove hand smacked by a swing. Alvarez was batting .236 (13-for-55) with one home run and eight RBI through 16 games when he was injured in mid-April. Rotowire.com Today, 7:43 am

  • Settles for no-decision Monday
King allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over five innings in a no-decision against Miami on Monday.

Advice: King pitched very well in the outing, but San Diego wasn't able to put its second run on the board until the seventh frame, preventing him from picking up a second consecutive victory. The only run the right-hander allowed came on a third-inning homer by Jazz Chisholm. King has given up one or zero runs in three of his past five starts and has racked up a 34:8 K:BB across 30 innings over that span. He's tentatively slated to make his next start in Kansas City. • Cronenworth has double, RBI against Marlins Monday
Jake Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and an RBI against the Marlins on Monday.

Advice: Cronenworth’s bases-loaded walk in the seventh inning was the difference in the Padres’ 2-1 victory over the Marlins. He continues to play second base after the Padres’ trade for Luis Arraez. Cronenworth’s average is up to .271 and his OPS is up to .806, both of which would be career-highs. • King strikes out seven in no-decision Monday
Michael King allowed one run in five innings and got a no-decision in the Padres’ 2-1 victory over the Marlins on Monday.

Advice: King allowed three hits, one walk and struck out seven. He left the game with the score tied after five innings. King’s ERA is now 4.09 on the season. His 74 strikeouts this year rank among the top 10 in all of baseball. The 29-year-old right-hander is set to face the Royals on the road this weekend.

  • Senzel has two hits, two RBI Monday
Nick Senzel went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI against the Braves on Monday.

Advice: Senzel hit a two-run double in the first inning to extend the Nationals lead to 4-0. He’s hitting just .221 and striking out a decent amount with a 24 percent strikeout percentage. Senzel is hitting for power, though, with a .183 ISO and his 111 wRC+ would be a career-high. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:01 pm

  • Jeimer Candelario back in the lineup on Monday
Jeimer Candelario (neck) is back in the lineup on Monday against the Cardinals.

Advice: Candelario missed two games with a neck injury but is back in the lineup at third base and hitting third in the order. The 30-year-old has been turning the corner a bit in May, slashing .257/.313/.432 in 20 games in May with two home runs, 10 RBI, and just a 16.3 percent strikeout rate. He seems like a good bet to go on a hot streak in the coming weeks. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:29 am

  • Could return this week
Reds manager David Bell said Monday that Friedl (thumb) could return as soon as late this week or early next week, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Advice: Just six games into his return from a fractured right wrist, Friedl suffered a broken left thumb as a result of a hit-by-pitch. Fortunately for Friedl and the Reds, it doesn't sound like he will have to miss nearly as much action this time around. Bell has already said he thinks Friedl could bypass a rehab assignment. • Back in lineup Monday
Candelario (neck) is in the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Advice: He was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to neck stiffness and held out Sunday as well, but evidently Candelario is feeling better. The 30-year-old will return to third base and bat third against right-hander Lance Lynn. While the rest of the Reds' offense has sunk in May, Candelario has rebounded with an .835 OPS, five doubles and a couple homers in his last 17 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:50 am
