      Aaron Nola picked up his seventh victory of the season on Friday night, limiting the Cardinals to two runs on three hits over his 6 1/3 innings of work.

      Advice: The 30-year-old right-hander racked up six strikeouts on the evening while issuing two free passes. Both of the runs against him came on solo home runs — one by Brandon Crawford in the third inning and another off the bat of Nolan Arenado in the seventh. Nola generated 10 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the night — six of those on his knuckle curve — while registering a CSW of 30 percent.       Advice: A Ha-Seong Kim homer in the third inning was the lone damage against Garrett, as the left-hander earned a second straight win -- he's allowed just one run on nine hits over 14 innings in that span after allowing 11 runs in his first two outings this season. Garrett's ERA is down to 4.56 with a 1.06 WHIP and 21:3 K:BB through his first 23.2 innings this year. He's currently lined up for a home matchup with the Rays in his next start. Jones' two strikeouts were also a season low, as he managed only four swinging strikes among his 83 pitches. The 22-year-old sports a 3.55 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 70:12 K:BB through his first 63.1 big-league innings.       Advice: He struck out just two. Jones did not have his best stuff after having his start pushed back a day; his 96.0 mph average fastball velocity was down 1.3 mph from his season mark. He did have some bad luck in the fifth; Wenceel Pérez hit what should have been an inning-ending double play ball to second, but Nick Gonzales went for the tag on Jake Rogers and had the ball jarred loose, resulting in no outs.       Advice: Brown was exceptional Tuesday, notching a career high in strikeouts and carrying a perfect game into the fifth inning when he walked Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick. Although Brown has bounced between the rotation and the bullpen this season, he's yielded one hit and four walks with 16 Ks across 11.0 innings during this stint as a starter -- an impressive stretch that could result in Brown sticking in the rotation long term.
