    • Tigers will option Spencer Torkelson to Triple-A
Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports that the Tigers plan to option slumping first baseman Spencer Torkelson to Triple-A Toledo.

Advice: Torkelson, the top overall selection from the 2020 draft, has slashed a miserable .201/.266/.330 through his first 230 plate appearances with only four homers, 18 RBI and a 56/16 K/BB ratio. He has been especially bad as of late, mired in a 3-for-33 (.091) funk with a 13/3 K/BB ratio over his last nine games. Justyn-Henry Malloy will be promoted from Triple-A Toledo to take Torkelson’s spot on the Tigers’ active roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:40 pm
    • Heading to Triple-A
The Tigers are expected to option Torkelson to Triple-A Toledo on Monday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: Torkelson was held out of the lineup for two of the Tigers' last three games after struggling to a .201/.266/.330 slash line with four home runs, 18 RBI and 24 runs scored over 229 plate appearances in 54 games this season. The first baseman will look to hit the reset button with Toledo before potentially returning to Detroit's major-league roster down the road. In the meantime, Justyn-Henry Malloy is set to be called up from Triple-A to replace Torkelson on the 26-man active roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 5:21 pm
    • Garners fifth straight start
Arias will start at third base and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Advice: Arias will stick in the lineup for a fifth consecutive game, this time filling in at third base while Jose Ramirez gets a day out of the field and serves as Cleveland's designated hitter. In addition to the hot corner, Arias picked up starts at second base, shortstop and in right field over the previous four games. The Guardians faced left-handed starters in three of those contests, and though Arias should be a fixture in the lineup versus lefties, he'll likely serve as more of a part-time player when Cleveland opposes righties. • Out of lineup Sunday
Torkelson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Advice: After recording zero hits in his last 16 at-bats, Torkelson will hit the bench for the second time in the past three games as Detroit wraps up its series against Boston. Gio Urshela will take over for Torkelson at first base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:11 am
    • Perfect at plate Friday
France went 3-for-3 with a solo home run, a two-run double and a walk in Friday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

Advice: France ended up a triple shy of the cycle, but he hasn't legged out a three-bagger since 2022. The infielder went 14-for-39 (.359) with three homers and nine RBI over his last 12 games in May, making him one of the Mariners' hotter hitters. For the year, France has a .260/.325/.411 slash line, seven homers, 24 RBI, 18 runs scored and eight doubles over 55 contests while seeing a starting role at first base. • Bonjour: Ty France hits go-ahead homer vs. Angels
Ty France went 3-for-3 with three RBI including a go-ahead homer in the eighth to give the Mariners a 5-4 win against the Angels on Friday.

Advice: Bonjour. France drove in two runs with a double in the first, and then broke a 4-4 tie with a homer off Andrew Moore. The 29-year-old got off to a very mediocre start, but he’s swung the bat well enough as of late to improve his slash to .260/.325/.411 with seven homers and 24 RBI. Far from elite numbers, but France appears to be figuring things out as of late. Worth a look for those in need at a corner-infield spot. Rotoworld Friday, 10:03 pm

    • Spencer Torkelson not in Tigers lineup on Friday
Spencer Torkelson is not in the Tigers’ starting lineup for Friday night’s tilt against the Red Sox in Boston.

Advice: It looks to be a routine night off for the 24-year-old first baseman. While his bat has perked up in recent weeks, he’s still hitting just .205/.271/.337 with four homers and 18 RBI on the season. Gio Urshela will draw a start at first base in his absence and will bat seventh against Tanner Houck on Friday evening. Rotoworld Friday, 2:07 pm
    • Resting Friday
Torkelson is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Boston.

Advice: Torkelson will take a day to clear his head after getting three hits in his last 20 at-bats. The 24-year-old first baseman will cede duties to Gio Urshela, who will bat seventh and get his inaugural start at first base this year. Rotowire.com Friday, 1:00 pm
    • Knocks in three Sunday
France went 2-for-5 with an RBI single and a two-run home run in a win over the Nationals on Sunday.

Advice: France knocked a 392-foot shot to left field with Mitch Garver aboard in the fourth inning to extend the Mariners' lead to 4-0 at the time, and he added an RBI single in the eighth that plated Julio Rodriguez. France has now reached safely in eight consecutive starts, but his current .243/.301/.384 slash line is still below the standards he set over his first three seasons in Seattle.
